Blood strangury (Xue Lin) arises when heart heat injures the blood level, causing urine and blood to exit together from the urethra accompanied by pain. Treatment requires clearing and draining using Xiaoji Yin (Little Thistle Decoction); if the pain in the urethra is severe, it falls under the category of Five Stranguries (Wu Lin), and Wulin San should be used.
[Note]
Blood strangury occurs because heart heat injures the blood level, and the pathogenic heat transmits into the bladder (bao). Over time, urine and blood are discharged together, forming blood strangury, with intermittent pain in the urethra. It should be treated with Xiaoji Yin Zi (Little Thistle Decoction). If the pain in the urethra is extremely severe, Wulin San (Five Stranguries Powder) is the primary formula.
(Xiaoji Yin Zi) Ingredients: Tongcao (Tetrapanacis Medulla), Huashi (Talcum), Danyezhu (Lophatheri Herba), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Xiaoji (Cephalopteri Herba), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus, stir-fried), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw), Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix), Puhuang (Typhae Pollen), Ou jie (Nelumbinis Node). Decoct in water and take on an empty stomach.
(Verse for Formula)
Xiaoji Yin treats blood strangury, containing Tongcao, Huashi, and Danyezhu;
Danggui, Xiaoji, Zhizi, and Gancao, combined with Shengdi, Puhuang, and Ou jie.
(Wulin San) Ingredients: Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chishao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Kutingli (Semen Lepidii seu Descurainiae), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, stir-fried), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Danyezhu (Lophatheri Herba), Huashi (Talcum), Kuizi (Abutilonis Semen), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw), Chifuling (Poria cum Ligno Rubrum). Decoct in water with Congbai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus) as a guide.
(Verse for Formula)
For Wu Lin and blood strangury causing pain in the urethra, use Danggui, Chishao, Tingli, Huangqin, and Mutong;
Zhizi, Cheqianzi, and Danyezhu, along with Huashi, Kuizi, Gancao, and Chifuling.
Pediatric headache is divided into exterior and interior syndromes. Interior syndromes belong to internal heat, while exterior syndromes belong to wind-cold. Exterior syndromes caused by external contraction of wind-cold require dispersing and releasing, while interior syndromes caused by steaming internal heat require clearing and purging.
[Note]
The syndrome of pediatric headache varies, with distinctions between exterior and interior locations.
Those located in the exterior are due to external contraction of wind-cold; the treatment method should be dispersing.
Those located in the interior are due to steaming internal heat; the treatment method should be clearing and resolving. If managed appropriately, the headache will naturally disappear.
Headache Section
Wind-cold headache belongs to the Taiyang (Greater Yang) channel. The pain extends to the vertex and the sides of the forehead. Symptoms include aversion to cold, absence of sweating, and fever. Jiawei Qingkong Gao (Modified Clearing Heaven Ointment/Powder) is suitable for treatment.
[Note]
Wind-cold headache is caused by pathogenic invasion of the Taiyang channel.
Its manifestations include aversion to cold and fever, with pain extending upward to the vertex and downward connecting to the forehead angles, occurring intermittently.
The treatment method should induce sweating, primarily using Qingkong Gao (Clearing Heaven Ointment/Powder).
If the pain is severe, add Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) to the base formula.
If heat is severe and constipation exists, add Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) to the base formula.
(Qingkong Gao) Ingredients: Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw). Decoct in water with Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) as a guide.
Add Xixin for severe pain; add Chuan Dahuang for constipation.
(Verse for Formula)
Wind-heat attacking upward causes head pain; Modified Qingkong Gao is most effective.
Qianghuo, Fangfeng, Chaihu, Chuanxiong, Huangqin, Huanglian, and Gancao;
