[Prescription Verse] The "Lianzhu" (String of Pearls) toxin erupts in a string-of-pearls shape, located on the back with slight pain and pale red color. Upon eruption, there is urinary retention and fullness in the lower abdomen, swelling of the scrotum, and pain in all joints.
[Annotation] This condition arises on the back, regardless of the left or right side, presenting as three to five consecutive swellings shaped like a string of pearls. It is caused by fire-toxin in the Ying (Nutritive) blood, or resulting from excessive consumption of alcohol and sexual indulgence. The sores are slightly painful with pale red skin color. During eruptions, there is fullness in the lower abdomen, difficulty and obstruction in urination, scrotal swelling, and pain in all joints. In the initial stage, it is appropriate to administer Shenshou Weisheng Tang (Divine Grant Health-Preserving Decoction), supplemented with Mutong (Akebiae Caulis) and Cheqian (Plantaginis Semen). All other internal and external treatment methods should follow the guidelines in the "Yong Ju Zhongyang" (Carbuncle and Ulcer Swelling Section) and "Youyang" (Ulcerated Section).
Formula: Shenshou Weisheng Tang (See Zhongyang Section)
[Prescription Verse] Dan Du (Erysipelas/Red Toxin) erupts resembling burns from boiling water or fire, characterized by numerous fine vesicles and red halos, accompanied by extreme thirst. This condition is caused by the ingestion of rigid/mineral drugs (Dan Shi). If the lesion color is bright red and vibrant, the patient survives; if purple and dark, death ensues.
[Annotation] This condition occurs on the back, resembling burns from hot liquids or fire, with countless fine vesicles and spreading red halos. Upon eruption, there is extreme thirst, caused by the habitual use of rigid/mineral drugs (Dan Shi). Initially, Huanglian Xiaodu Yin (Coptis Detoxification Decoction) should be taken, concurrently administered with Guolao Gao (Old Man's Paste), and externally applied with thin slices of beef. If the lesion color is bright red and moist, and the spirit is clear, the prognosis is good; if the color is purple and dark, accompanied by coma, rapid/agitated pulse, abdominal distension, vomiting, and hiccups, the prognosis is fatal.
Formula: Guolao Gao (Old Man's Paste)
Composition: Gancao (Licorice Root, large roots, 2 jin)
Crushed, soaked in river water overnight, kneaded until the juice becomes thick, all fibrous residues removed, then filtered through silk cloth; slowly boiled into a paste in a silver vessel, stored in porcelain jars. Take 3 qian per dose, mixed with warm wine without ash, or plain boiled water is also acceptable.
[Prescription Verse] Guolao Gao resolves the toxicity of mineral drugs; for various sores, swelling subsides immediately upon its use. Two jin of Licorice Root soaked in river water, juice extracted and boiled into paste, taken with warm wine.
Another Formula: Huanglian Xiaodu Yin (See Baihui Ju of the Head)
[Prescription Verse] Qin Ju (Bird Carbuncle) toxin arises from seasonal qi pathogens. Several lumps resemble rashes with purple-red color. Located on the back, the shape resembles bruises from being punched. There is stiffness, numbness, and absence of pain.
[Annotation] The toxicity of this carbuncle arises from wind-heat in seasonal qi pathogens. Initially, several rash-like lumps appear, purple-red in color, occurring on the back, shaped like contusions from punches. The spine and back exhibit stiffness and numbness without pain. If the spirit is clear and the pulse is harmonious, and sweating occurs after medication, it is a favorable sign (Shun); if the spirit is confused, the pulse is agitated, weak, or intermittent (Dai), accompanied by chills and clenched teeth, it is an unfavorable sign (Ni). Initially, Xianfang Huoming Yin (Immortal Life-Saving Decoction) should be urgently administered, supplemented with Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) and Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix) to induce sweating. Externally apply Erwei Baidu San (Two-Ingredient Antidote Powder) or Ketou Baidu San (Tadpole Antidote Powder) to dissipate the swelling. If the swelling is diffuse and does not suppurate, Tuoli Toulong Tang (Interior-Supporting Pus-Expelling Decoction) should be taken. All other internal and external treatment methods should follow the guidelines in the "Yong Ju Zhongyang" (Carbuncle and Ulcer Swelling Section) and "Youyang" (Ulcerated Section).
Formulas: Xianfang Huoming Yin, Erwei Baidu San, Ketou Baidu San (All see Zhongyang Section)
