Translation:
The Yin Qiao Mai (Yin Heel Vessel) also originates in the middle of the heel; it is a collateral branch of the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian, running along the medial malleolus upward, following the medial aspect of the thigh into the chest and abdomen, ascending to the throat, and reaching up to Jingming (BL-1).
Note: [1] The Yin Qiao Mai also originates in the middle of the heel. It branches from the collateral channel of the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian at the point Rangu (KI-2), ascends and connects medially with the medial malleolus, follows the medial aspect of the thigh, enters the chest and abdomen, ascends to the throat and the point Jingming (BL-1), and also intersects with the Taiyang Bladder Meridian (see Figure 84).
Translation:
The Yin Qiao Mai originates at the point Rangu (KI-2), ascends through Zhaohai (KI-6), Jiaoxin (KI-8), and Lieque (LU-7); these three points originally belong to the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian, and are connected by the point Jingming (BL-1) of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian.
Translation: The Yin Qiao Mai originates from the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian; locate Rangu (KI-2) anterior to the medial malleolus on the foot; below the medial malleolus, one cun deep in the depression lies Zhaohai (KI-6); two cun above the medial malleolus is precisely Jiaoxin (KI-8);
at the outer depression lateral to the inner canthus, locate the point Jingming (BL-1), which is very distinct.
Note: [1] The Yin Qiao Mai, because its pathway belongs to the Yin meridians, is a collateral branch of the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian.
[2] It originates from the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian, in the depression below the large bone anterior to the medial malleolus, which is the point Rangu (KI-2).
[3] From the point Rangu (KI-2), it follows one cun below the medial malleolus, where the point Zhaohai (KI-6) is located.
[4] From the point Zhaohai (KI-6), it does not follow the point Taixi (KI-3), but goes straight to the point Jiaoxin (KI-8) two cun above the medial malleolus.
[5] From the point Jiaoxin (KI-8), it ascends along the medial aspect of the thigh, enters the yin region and travels, ascends along the interior of the chest entering the Supraclavicular Fossa (Quepen), ascends anterior to the Renying (ST-9) point,
enters the cheek beside the nose, attaches to the depression lateral to the inner canthus at the point Jingming (BL-1), merges with the Yang Qiao Mai of the Taiyang Bladder Meridian; ascending and circulating qi mutually,
this serves the function of moistening the eyes.
[6] Therefore, it is known that if the Qi of the Yin Qiao Mai does not prosper together with the Qi of the Yang Qiao Mai in nourishing the eyes, then the eyes cannot close;
this is the meridian pathway of the Yin Qiao Mai (see Figure 85).
Translation:
The Twenty-Eighth Difficulty of the Nan Jing states: The Yang Wei Mai (Yang Linking Vessel) and Yin Wei Mai (Yin Linking Vessel) link and connect the body; when Qi and Blood overflow and accumulate such that they cannot circulate in a ring, they irrigate and spill into the various meridians.
Therefore, the Yang Wei Mai originates at the intersection of all Yang meridians, and the Yin Wei Mai originates at the intersection of all Yin meridians.
