*Ge Shi Fang* (Prescriptions from Master Ge): For treating sudden falls from horses or carriages, as well as falls from houses, pits, or banks, resulting in injuries to the body, head, face, and limbs, with severe internal and external pain, restlessness, and loud crying: Quickly gather a large amount of rat feces (*Mus musculus excrementum*), burn them until charred, crush them, mix with lard (*Suis Adeps*) to apply on the painful area, and bandage tightly immediately.
*Qian Jin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold): For treating falls from carriages or horses, with accumulated blood in the heart and abdomen, and continuous spitting of blood: Dry lotus root rhizome powder (*Nelumbinis Rhizoma*), taken with wine, one *cun bi* (a square-inch measure) per dose, three times daily. (Note: *Su Jing Ben Cao Jing* records: Boil lotus root juice and soak the wound three times.)
Another prescription: Mix vinegar with flour and apply as a poultice.
*Ji Yao Fang* (Extremely Important Prescriptions): For treating hemorrhage due to falling from a horse, abdominal distension, shortness of breath, and near-death state: Five *sheng* of soybeans (*Sojae Semen Rubrum*), boiled in ten *dou* of water until reduced to two and a half *sheng* of liquid. Drink the entire dose at once. For severe cases, no more than two doses are needed for recovery.
*Xin Lu Fang* (Newly Recorded Prescriptions) states: Crush fresh rehmannia root (*Rehmanniae Radix*) and apply externally to seal the wound.
*Bing Yuan Lun* (Treatise on the Sources and Manifestations of All Diseases) states: Whenever a person is bitten by a dog, an attack occurs every seven days. If no attack occurs after twenty-one days (three sevens), there is little danger. One must pass one hundred days to be considered completely safe. Dog meat and silkworm pupae (*Bombyx Batryticatus*) should be forbidden for life; consuming these will cause a fatal relapse if attacked. During the period before the wound heals, raw fish, pork, chicken, and fatty/greasy foods are prohibited; abstinence for one year is ideal. Eating steamed fish with meals or food cooked in greasy vessels will trigger the disease. If a person has previously eaten *luokui* (Malva verticillata) and is then bitten by a dog, it is difficult to treat. Even if the wound heals, eating *luokui* ten years later can cause a relapse.
*Luo Yan Fang* (Verified Records Prescriptions) states: If a dog develops sores after eating horse meat, it should be killed immediately by letting it bleed out excessively. Alternatively, crush the roots of wolfberry (*Lycii Radicis Cortex*), extract the juice, cook rice with it, and feed it to the dog so that sores do not develop.
*Duan Ju Fang* (Short Drama Prescriptions) states: Prohibit alcohol consumption, pork, raw vegetables, raw sliced meat, [missing character].
*Ge Shi Fang* states: Dogs tend to have excessive [missing character] in spring. Treatment prescription: Apply bean paste (*Douchi*) to the sore, three to four times a day.
Another prescription: Powdered dried ginger (*Zingiberis Rhizoma*), taken orally regularly. A small amount should also be inserted into the wound.
Another prescription: Powdered alum (*Alumen*), inserted into the wound and wrapped; this stops pain, prevents ulceration, promotes rapid healing, and is the best method.
It also says: For severe relapses:
Crush reed rhizome (*Imperatae Rhizoma*), drink the juice, and the condition will heal.
Another prescription: Juice extracted from crushed wild leek/scallion bulb (*Allii Macrostemonis Bulbus*) is effective when drunk.
*Jing Xin Fang* (Prescriptions for Treating the Heart) for treating dog bites:
Apply human feces (*Hominis Excrementum*) to the wound; this is highly effective.
Another prescription: Pack the wound with sour vinegar; it will heal.
*Duan Ju Fang* for treating dog bites:
Suck out the bad blood, moxa-ignite the site for one hundred *zhuang*, and continue to moxa-ignite one hundred *zhuang* daily thereafter. If blood does not flow, prick the wound slightly with a needle, then moxa-ignite one hundred *zhuang* before stopping. (Note: *Ge Shi Fang* records: Moxa-ignite ten *zhuang* at once, then reduce by one *zhuang* each subsequent day until one hundred days are completed.)
Another prescription: Take apricot kernels (*Armeniacae Semen Amarum*), roast until black, grind, and place inside the wound.
*Qian Jin Fang* for treating dog bites:
Crush Chinese chives (*Allii Tuberosi Herba*), squeeze out the juice, drink one *sheng*, three times daily; this also treats cases where the disease recurs after apparent healing. (Note: *Ge Shi Fang* adds drinking this juice every seventh day.)
Another prescription: Pour residual lamp oil into the wound.
*Yi Men Fang* (Medical Gate Prescriptions) for treating dog bites:
Another prescription: Burn the peel of gardenia (*Gardeniae Fructus*) to ash, mix equally with yellow powder from pomegranate (*Punica Granati Pericarpium*), apply to the wound twice daily for rapid healing.
It also says: If various treatments fail, and the patient vomits white foam, poison attacks the heart, and cries like a dog:
Take human skull bone (*Cranii Os Humani*), burn to ash, sift, and take one *cun bi* with running water from the east; take two or three doses in a short while, and the condition will heal. It brings the dead back to life with divine efficacy.
*Ji Yao Fang* for rabid dog bites:
Seal the wound with earthworm feces (*Lumbricus Excrementum*) to expel dog hair; this is miraculous.
*Xin Lu Fang* states: Crush fresh mugwort leaves (*Artemisiae Argyi Folium*), extract juice, and drink seven to eight *he*. Another prescription: Apply grease from cart wheels (*Che Zhi*) to the wound.
Another prescription: Crush fresh kudzu root (*Puerariae Lobatae Radix*), drink seven *he* of the juice, and also apply the powder externally.
*Luo Yan Fang* states: Make cakes from garlic (*Allii Sativi Bulbus*), moxa-ignite the wound, and it will heal.
Another prescription: Melt beeswax honey (*Mel*) with fire and place it into the wound.
