The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases) states: When fetal qi presses against the heart, it is due to improper regulation of daily life, causing fetal movement and rebellious qi ascent, thus resulting in the fetus pressing upward toward the heart. If the fetus remains positioned downward, birth will proceed normally.
The *Duanju Fang* (Short Drama Formulas) records a formula for treating fetal qi pressing against the heart: Bind a bowstring below the heart; the fetus will be expelled immediately.
The *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) states: If the fetus moves toward the anus (breech presentation), apply hot salt compresses to the abdomen. (This is consistent with the *Ge Shi Fang*.)
The *Ge Shi Fang* states a formula for treating fetal qi pressing against the heart: Take blood from a black dog and drink a small amount; the fetus will descend immediately.
It further states: If the hands emerge first, chew salt and apply it to the infant's palms.
It also states: If the feet emerge first, write the character "Qian" (Thousand) with cinnabar ink under the infant's left foot and the character "Hei" (Black) under the right foot; normal delivery will ensue.
The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* states: This may result from fright or falling, or contracting warm diseases or cold damage (Shanghan). Pathogenic toxins enter the uterus, causing fetal death. The sign is that the area where the fetus lies feels cold, indicating fetal demise.
The *Duanju Fang* states: Swallow two liang of mercury; the fetus will be expelled immediately.
Another formula: Crush Xiongqiong (Ligusticum chuanxiong), take one fangcun bi (a square-inch measure) with wine; it is highly effective.
The *Seng Shen Fang* states: Take two stalks of Niuxi root (Achyranthes bidentata), crush them, pour boiling water over them, and drink the juice; the fetus (will be expelled immediately).
Another formula: Take Puhuang (Typhae Pollen) one fangcun bi with wine.

Another formula: Drink one sheng of husband's urine.
The *Longmen Fang* states: Boil Taogen (Pruni Persicae Radix) until thick; bathe the knees below this decoction; the fetus will be expelled immediately.
Su Jing's *Bencao Zhu* (Commentary on Materia Medica) states: Take Fuyi shihui (Ash of Bat Excrement), take one fangcun bi with wine.
The *Qianjin Fang* states: Apply Niusi (Bovis Faeces) to the mother's abdomen; the fetus will be expelled immediately.
Another formula: Take San sheng of Antshi tu (Soil from ant hills), heat it, place it in a bag, and apply it below the heart; the fetus will descend. (Consistent with the *Duanju Fang*.)

Formula for treating maternal pallor and impending collapse:
Cook Zhigao (Porcine Fat) one sheng, Baimi (White Honey) one sheng, Chunjiu (Pure Wine) two sheng.
Combine these three ingredients, boil to obtain three sheng, divide into five doses; highly effective.
