According to the *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Symptoms of All Diseases), the condition of "large abdomen Dingxi" in infants is caused by overfeeding; the spleen and stomach are still weak and unable to digest the food. The symptoms of this disease include a distended abdomen, a thin neck, sallow complexion, and emaciation.
The *Ge Shi Fang*: Take fresh leek roots, crush them, fry them in lard, and administer in small amounts gradually.
Another prescription: Thoroughly roast rat meat or bat meat, and feed it to the infant as milk/food.
The *Su Jing Bencao Zhu* states: Burn the hair found in the navel of a cow into ash and administer orally.
The *Lu Yan Fang*: Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata (Gancao) 18 parts. Grind this single herb into fine powder, mix with honey to form pills. For a one-year-old infant, administer 29 pills the size of a small bean each time, two to three times daily. Feeding and nursing should not be interrupted during administration. After finishing the dose, prepare a new batch.
According to the *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun*: Infants have tender and weak intestines and stomachs. If they are exposed to wind and cold after undressing, or if milk and food fail to digest, vomiting and diarrhea may result. Alternatively, if the nursing mother is exposed to wind and cold or consumes raw/cold foods, cold qi enters the breast milk; drinking this milk can also induce Huoluan (cholera-like syndrome).
Administer Ox Saliva (Niuxian) into the mouth, one he.
Another prescription: Contain and swallow the juice from hot cow dung.
Another prescription: Grind KT dregs, mix with breast milk, and administer three Dao Gui each time, three times daily. (From *Qianjin Fang*).
The *Chan Jing* records the Ginseng Decoction formula:
Radix Ginseng (Renshen) 4 fen, Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis (Houpo) 2 fen, Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata (Ganzao) 2 fen (roasted), Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae (Baizhu) 3 fen.
These four ingredients are boiled in one sheng and two he of water until five he remains. An infant aged fifty days takes one he per dose; an infant aged one hundred days divides the dose into three servings.
The *Qianjin Fang* treats infant vomiting and diarrhea:
Take two fen of burnt disordered hair (Luansha), one fen of deer horn, grind into powder, and administer three Dao Gui with rice water, three times daily.
The *Lu Yan Fang*: Boil Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis (Houpo) and administer.
Another prescription: Boil pear leaves and administer.
The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* states: When cold qi is extremely prevalent, severe diarrhea is called Dongxie (cavity diarrhea); if Dongxie does not stop, it is called Zhuxia (pouring down).
The *Qianjin Fang* treats infant Dongxie and lower discharge:
Stir-fry Cangmi (stored rice), grind into powder, and administer.
Another prescription: Burn pomegranate into ash, administer one Qian Bi each time, three times daily.
The *Chan Jing* states: Infant Dongxie continues day and night without stopping. The Scutellaria Pill formula:
Radix Scutellariae (Huangqin) 2 fen, Rhizoma Zingiberis Preparatum (Ganjiang) 2 fen, Radix Ginseng (Renshen) 2 fen.
Grind into fine powder, mix with honey to form pills the size of soybeans. Administer three pills each time, three times daily.

Bulbus Allii Macrostemonis (Xiebai) chopped, 7 he; Radix Ginseng (Renshen) chopped, 8 fen; Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis (Houpo) chopped, 4 fen; Panicum miliaceum (Su) 3 he.
These four ingredients are boiled in four sheng of water until two sheng remains. Administer in small amounts gradually.
The *Ge Shi Fang* treats persistent lower discharge:
Grind Semen Phaseoli Urdus (Chixiaodou) into powder, mix with vinegar (Ku Jiu), and apply externally to the anus.
Another prescription: Roast lean pork and feed it.
The *Bencao Shiyi* states: Consuming Gu birds (birds that eat wild rice) is very beneficial.
