The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases) states: Shi Jue (Corpse-like Coma) is caused by the rebellion of Yin Qi. It occurs when Yang Mai (Yang Vessels) suddenly sink downward and Yin Mai (Yin Vessels) suddenly rise upward, causing Yin and Yang to separate from their proper positions, and Ying Qi (Nutritive Qi) and Wei Qi (Defensive Qi) to become obstructed.
As stated in the *Ge Shi Fang* (Formulas by Master Ge): The condition of Shi Jue is sudden death while the pulse still beats.
Blow into the left ear using a tube, three times with force, then blow into the right ear three times; the patient will awaken.
Another formula: Crush Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii (Changpu, 石菖蒲) to the size of a jujube pit, and place it in the ear or under the tongue.
Another method: Apply moxibustion to Ren-26 Renge (Human Center, 人中), seven moxa cones.
Another method: Apply moxibustion to Ren-17 Shanzhong (Chest Center, 膻中), fourteen moxa cones (two sets of seven).
Another method: Apply moxibustion one cun below the scrotum towards the anus, one hundred moxa cones; for women, apply moxibustion between the two breasts.
Another method: Place powder of Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii (Changpu, 石菖蒲) into both nostrils and blow it in; place powder of Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guizhi, 肉桂) under the tongue. This is said to be the method used by Bian Que to treat the King of Chu. (The above two formulas are from...)
The *Ji Yan Fang* (Collected Proven Formulas) records Bian Que’s moxibustion method for treating coma resembling death, unconsciousness, and residual Qi in the epigastrium:
Wrap a rope around the patient's wrist, on the left for males and the right for females. Extend the rope from above Da Zhui (GV-14, Great Vertebra) downwards. At the point on the spine corresponding to the end of the rope, apply moxibustion, fifty moxa cones.
The *Fan Wang Fang* (Formulas of Fan Wang) for treating Shi Jue:
Take house dust from the roof beams, about the size of a bean, put it in a tube, and blow it simultaneously into the nose and ears.
Another method: Pour fresh juice of Allium tuberosum (Jiucai, 韭菜) into the mouth.
The *Xin Lu Fang* (Newly Recorded Formulas) for treating Shi Jue:
Take one sheng of the white part of Scallion (Congbai, 葱白), add two sheng of water, boil to obtain one sheng of liquid, and administer orally in one dose.
Another method: Administer powder of Peach Kernel (Taoren, 桃仁) measured as one fang cun bi (square-inch scoop), taken with wine.
The *Jiu Ji Dan Yan Fang* (Emergency Single-Proven Formulas) for treating death from Shi Jue:
Apply moxibustion to the area within the hair tufts behind the nail of the big toe on both feet, seven moxa cones. Hua Tuo stated: fourteen moxa cones (two sets of seven).
The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* states: When a person dies from drowning, water enters through the orifices and floods the Zang-Fu organs, causing Qi obstruction, leading to death. If rescued early,
It also states: Even if half a day or a day has passed, life can still be restored; even if breath has ceased, if the heart region remains warm, treatment is possible.
The *Duan Ju Fang* (Short Drama Formulas) for treating drowning death where two nights have passed but survival is still possible:
Crush Fructus Gleditsiae Sinensis (Zaojiao, 皂荚) into powder, wrap it in cotton, insert it into the lower orifice of the deceased, pull it out after a moment, and the person will revive.
It also states: Method for treating drowning death:
Spread ash from the stove on the ground to a thickness of five cun. Invert a steamer (Zeng) over the ash. Place the drowned person prone on top of the steamer. Water should flow out of the mouth. Once water flow is detected,
After a short while
Another method: Have two strong men hold the drowned person upside down to drain the water. When all water is expelled, the person will revive.
The *Ge Shi Fang*: A person who has drowned for one night can still be revived. Treatment method:
Hang the deceased upside down, and pour good-quality wine into the nostrils; immediate revival occurs. (This is consistent with the *Long Men Fang*).
It also states: For those whose bodies are still warm, bury the person in more than two dan of warm stove ash, covering from head to foot; they will revive.
Another method: Take a warm pot, invert it, and have the drowned person lie prone on it. When water flows out of the abdomen, the person will revive.

The *Ji Yan Fang* (Collected Proven Formulas) for treating drowning death:
Heat sand and cover the deceased with it, ensuring sand covers above and below, exposing only the nose and mouth. Keep the sand in contact with the body warm and moist; replace as necessary.
