The *Zhu Bing Yuan Hou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Symptoms of All Diseases) states: When various Yang Qi resides in the exterior, an excess of Yang Qi leads to heat in the exterior. Due to physical exertion or labor, the Cou Li (skin texture and pores) become deficient and open, allowing Wind Evil to invade. When Wind and Heat contend with each other and remain in the skin, sores are generated. Initially, pustules form, discharging yellow fluid; if Wind predominates, there is itching; if Heat predominates, there is pain. If Blood and Qi are affected, excessive pus and blood may appear, hence it is named "Re Chuang" (Heat Sore).

The *Duan Ju Fang* (Short Formula Book) describes Re Chuang as a condition where white pus appears immediately upon the formation of the sore.

The *Liu Juanzi Gui Yi Fang* (Liu Juanzi's Ghost Remains Formulas) provides a formula for treating sudden onset Re Chuang:
Take charcoal about two chi long, burn it until red hot, pour two sheng of water over it to generate steam, collect the resulting liquid, and bathe the affected area. This will lead to recovery.

The *Lu Yan Fang* (Recorded Verified Formulas) provides a Huang Lian Fen San (Coptis Powder) for treating Re Chuang:
Shui Yin (Mercurius, quicksilver, calcined), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Hu Fen (Galena/Lead Powder, calcined), each one liang.
Of these three substances, first grind the Huang Lian and sift it. Then mix all three substances thoroughly. Wash the sore with salt water, dry it, apply the powder, twice daily.

The *Zhu Bing Yuan Hou Lun* states: In the height of summer, human skin Cou Li opens, making one susceptible to Wind-Heat. When Wind-Heat toxic qi contends in the skin, Fei Chuang (Boiling Sore) arises. Its appearance resembles boiling water. In mild cases, it appears in clusters like millet grains; in severe cases, hot sweat macerates the skin into sores, giving rise to its name. The world calls it "Fei Zi."

The *Xin Lu Fang* (Newly Recorded Formulas) provides formulas for treating summer heat Fei Chuang:
Sift Duan Shi Fen (Calcined Stone Powder) finely onto the affected area.

Another formula: Rub the affected area with fresh Sang Ye (Mori Folium, mulberry leaf).

Another formula: Boil Su Jiang Cao (Portulacae Herba, purslane) and wash the area.

Another formula: Rub and apply Shui Ping (Pistiae Herba, duckweed) to the area.

Another formula: Crush Tu Si Miao (Cuscutae Herba seedling) and rub/apply it to the area.

The *Ling Li Fang* provides a formula for treating body sores caused by summer heat and boiling sensation:
Fan Shi (Alumen, four liang, calcined), Bai Shan [Note: Likely Bai E (Kaolin) or similar mineral, six liang, calcined].
Grind and sift these two substances. First wipe the body with cloth, then dust with the medicinal powder, twice daily.

Current analysis: The *Shi Shuo* (Master's Sayings) states: Jiao Chuang (Chewing Sore/Mouth Ulcer - *Note: Context suggests a dermatological condition resembling herpes or impetigo described metaphorically*) occurs when Wind Evil resides between the skin and flesh. During the steaming heat of summer, sores form, feeling like wind-driven arrows, starting with itching followed by pain. The color is red and white, with hidden rashes the size of millet grains. Treatment formulas include:
Boiled You Ye (Citrus Maxima Leaf) for washing.

Another formula: Boiled Zhi Zi Ye (Gardeniae Folium) for washing, or grinding Zhi Zi Fen (Gardeniae Fructus Powder) for application.

Another formula: Apply Su Fen (Setaria Italica Flour, millet flour).

For cases with excessive heat causing bleeding:
[Text missing herb name] crushed and juiced, applied topically, and boiled for washing.
