*Shanfan Fang* records: Regarding the manifestations of deficiency and excess in flesh (muscles), they are primarily governed by the Spleen and Stomach. If pathological factors arise internally from the Zang-Fu organs, heat syndromes correspond to Zang organ diseases, while cold syndromes correspond to Fu organ diseases.
In cases of flesh deficiency, patients sit uneasily on uneven surfaces, and their bodies sway or tilt. In cases of flesh excess, patients sit steadily without movement but experience panting and shortness of breath.
It further states: To treat flesh deficiency characterized by restlessness in sitting and constant movement, which is mainly caused by cold qi invading the Stomach, use Wuqia Jiu (Five-Acacia Bark Wine) (suitable for all four seasons):
Wuqia Pi (Cortex Acanthopanacis Senticosi, 2 sheng), Gouqi Pi (Bark of Lycium chinense, 2 sheng), Gan Dihuang (Dried Rehmanniae Radix, 8 liang), Danshen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 8 liang), Duzhong (Cortex Eucommiae Ulmoidis, 1 jin), Gan Jiang (Dried Zingiberis Rhizoma, 4 liang), Fuzi (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix).
These eight ingredients are crushed/stored with orange peel (note: text implies storage or preparation method), soaked in 2 dou of clear wine for three nights. Take 7 ge per dose, twice daily.
It also states: To treat flesh excess characterized by sitting still but panting, which is mainly due to heat qi obstructing the Spleen, use Banxia Tang (Pinellia Decoction) to relieve panting (suitable for all four seasons):
Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparatum, 8 liang, washed), Su Jiang (Old Ginger, 8 liang), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, 3 liang), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, 5 liang), Ju Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 4 liang), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, 3 liang), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum).
These eight ingredients are cut, boiled in 9 sheng of water until reduced to 3 sheng, strained, and divided into three doses. If purgation is required, add Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas, 3 liang).
