According to *Zhu Bing Yuan Hou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases): Lougu Li (Ant-lion Scrofula) occurs because one eats fruit seeds or melon kernels without avoiding those containing insects, and subsequently ingests them. The toxic substances are not eliminated, leading to pathological changes.
The lesion is located on the neck, resembling the trail of a snail, manifesting as Yin Zhen (urticaria-like skin eruptions), with its root in the Large Intestine.
The *Ji Yan Fang* (Collected Proven Prescriptions) prescribes for Lougu Li:
Take fourteen Ant-lion brains, mix with wine, and apply externally to the affected area.
The *Qian Jin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) contains a prescription for Lougu Li:
Use ash from Oak leaves. First, soak the Oak leaves in rice washing water, boil to extract the juice, clean and dry the lesion, then insert the ash into the ulcer.
The *Liu Juanzi Gui Yi Fang* (Liu Juanzi's Ghost-Transmitted Surgical Prescriptions) treats Lougu Li, which initially appears on the neck with swelling-like appearance. This results from consuming fruits or melons where the toxicity remains due to unremoved pits/kernels.
Long Gu (Fossilized Bones, half fen) Gui Xin (Cinnamon Twig Heart, one fen) Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger, one fen) Jie Geng (Platycodon Root, one fen) Fan Shi (Alum, one fen) Fu Zi (Prepared Aconite Root, one liang) Du Huo (Angelica Pubescens Root, one fen) Xiong Qiong (Sichuan Lovage Rhizome, half fen) Shu Jiao (Sichuan Pepper, one hundred grains)
Grind these nine herbs and sieve them. Separately, take twenty dried dates, remove the pits, and pound them together with the powder. Mix with Su Jiang (sour berry juice or vinegar solution) to form pills. Take five pills daily, sized like soybeans, washed down with warm grain liquid.
According to *Zhu Bing Yuan Hou Lun*: Feng Li (Bee Scrofula) arises from dietary irregularities and fatigue; when thirsty and dehydrated, one drinks excessively from flowing water, thereby contracting bee toxin. If the bee toxin is not expelled, pathological changes occur.
The onset is on the neck, with three or four areas swelling simultaneously, ulcerating into sores that resemble carbuncles. They heal but recur elsewhere, with their root in the Spleen.
The *Liu Juanzi Gui Yi Fang* treats Feng Li, which initially appears on the neck with scrofulous swellings in three or four areas, spreading and ulcerating continuously. This is caused by drinking excessive flowing water containing residual bee toxins.
Feng Fang (Honeycomb, one unit) Bie Jia (Turtle Shell, one fen) Hui Xiang Zi (Fennel Seed, one fen) Zhu Yu (Chinese Cornelian Cherry Fruit, one fen) Jiao (Sichuan Pepper, two hundred grains) Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger, one fen)
Pound these six ingredients, sieve into powder, and apply to the opening of the ulcer ten times a day.
The *Qian Jin Fang* has prescriptions for Feng Li:
Human feces mixed with ash of Snake Skin molt, combined with lard rendered in the twelfth lunar month, applied into the cavity.
Another prescription: Ash from Beehive nests, mixed with lard rendered in the twelfth lunar month, applied into the cavity.
The *Ge Shi Fang* (Ge Hong's Prescriptions) states: If the toxin affects the inside and outside of the nose, causing tumors and bleeding, this is Feng Li. Take [Gu] and Honeycomb, roast until charred and powdered, take one Cun Bi (a measuring spoon equivalent to approx. 5-10g) with warm wine, once daily.
