The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Symptoms of All Diseases) states: Raw meat placed together with other meat, tightly wrapped in a vessel (sealed), where the qi cannot escape, becomes "Yu Rou" (stagnant meat), which is toxic. Meat jerky that has been wetted by rain leaking through a thatched roof will develop severe toxicity. (Consumption leads to acute illness after three days.)
The *Bencao Jing* (Classic of Materia Medica) states: For poisoning from eating various meats, horse liver, or leaky jerky:
Drink fresh Chinese chive juice. Ingest the soot/scum from burnt pig bones. Burn dog feces and take with wine. Fermented soybean juice is also good.
The *Seng Shen Fang* (Prescriptions of Monk Shen) for treating stagnant meat and leaky jerky poisoning:
Take lotus root, crush it, mix with water, squeeze out the juice, and drink.
The *Ge Shi Fang* (Prescriptions of Ge Shi) for treating poisoning from eating stagnant meat and leaky jerky:
Boil one jin (approx. 500g) of pork fat and consume it all.
Another prescription: Drink large amounts of human breast milk.
The *Ji Yan Fang* (Collected Proven Prescriptions) for treating leaky jerky poisoning:
Crush fresh Chinese chives to extract juice and drink. The dosage depends on judgment (The *Ge Shi Fang* suggests one to two sheng). In winter when Chinese chives are unavailable, crush the roots to extract juice. (Current note: The *Ge Shi Fang* says using Chinese chives is also effective.)
The *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) for treating leaky jerky toxicity:
Drink soybean juice; it is effective.
The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* states: The livers of any poultry, beasts, or six domestic animals that have died naturally should not be eaten lightly, as they often contain toxins that harm humans. This is especially true if they died from an epidemic.
Those poisoned by this typically experience diarrhea, vomiting, restlessness, and discomfort.
The *Ge Shi Fang* for treating poisoning from eating the livers of various domestic animals and birds/beasts:
Ingest one qian bi (a small measuring spoon size) of head scurf (dandruff/skin flakes).
Another prescription: Soak fermented soybeans in water, extract the juice, and drink several sheng.
It also states: For meat of birds/beasts killed by poisoned arrows:
Use indigo juice or soybean juice to detoxify.
The *Qianjin Fang* for treating toxicity from the livers of various beasts:
Consume one jin of pork lard in one dose to eliminate the toxicity of old meat from marshes.
The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* states: Crabs eat Shui Gen (Hyoscyamus niger, Henbane), which is highly toxic; therefore, crabs can also be toxic. Poisoning causes mental confusion and a desire to die. However, if the crab was exposed to frost before becoming toxic, it does not pose a risk to the meat's safety.
The *Bencao Jing* states: For poisoning from eating crabs.
Crush fresh Perilla leaf juice and boil it dry. Boiling Perilla juice or Winter melon juice is also excellent.
The *Ge Shi Fang* for treating poisoning from eating crabs and various dishes:
Thickly boil aromatic Perilla, strain off the dregs, and drink one sheng of the juice.
The *Seng Shen Fang* for treating poisoning from eating crabs.
Boil reed shoots/mushrooms and drink the juice.
The *Qianjin Fang* for treating poisoning from eating crabs:
Drink two sheng of Winter melon juice, or one may also eat Winter melon. (The *Ge Shi Fang* suggests crushing and drinking one to two sheng of juice.)
