Ziheche (Human Placenta) one unit, Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, stir-fried with wine), Guiban (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, roasted with suet) 3 liang, Nanzhuzhong (Eucommiae Cortex, stir-fried with ginger juice), Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, soaked in wine) 1 liang, Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) 1 liang. In winter, add Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) 5 qian; in summer, add Chao Wuweizi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus, stir-fried) 1 liang. Make pills using a paste of wine and flour.
Ziheche is the origin of human life and the source of congenital endowment. It is used to tonify the congenital foundation, rather than relying on acquired post-heaven qi to nourish the pre-heaven. The method of modification is quite excellent. However, Huangbai should be removed.
Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) 2 liang, Tiantong (Asparagi Radix, stir-fried), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix, stir-fried), Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix), Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata) 4 liang.
Make pills with honey.
This formula is suitable for treating conditions where excessive Fire overacts on Metal (Lung). If the Spleen and Stomach are weak, it is advisable to combine this with the method of "cultivating Earth to generate Metal."
Renshen powder, Renru Fen (Human Milk Powder).
Equal parts, make pills with honey.
It gently tonifies Qi and Blood; one aspect strengthens the source of Water, and the other reinforces the master of Qi. The later "Liangyi Gao" was derived from this formula.
Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix, washed with wine) 4 liang, Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix, stir-fried), Danshen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, stir-fried), Fuling (Poria, some versions use Fushen), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, stir-fried) each 5 qian, Suanzaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen, stir-fried), Baiziren (Biota Orientalis Seed, stir-fried, ground, and oil removed), Tiantong (Asparagi Radix, stir-fried), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix, stir-fried), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, washed with wine), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus, stir-fried) each 1 liang.
Make pills with honey, sized like bullet seeds, coated with Zhusha (Cinnabaris). Another version contains Shichangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) 4 qian and excludes Wuweizi; yet another version includes Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma). This formula was originally designed for symptoms such as Heart Blood deficiency, palpitations (Zhengchong), and forgetfulness. Therefore, astringent herbs are not considered too heavy. Jiegeng guides the medicinal action upward, and Yuanzhi opens up Heart Qi; these two ingredients are sufficient. The version that removes Shichangpu is correct; otherwise, the dispersing and draining action is too vigorous and unsuitable for those with deficiency constitutions.
Baiguiban (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, roasted with suet), Longgu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi et Scapulae, ground into powder and boiled overnight inside a chicken abdomen), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix), Jiujie Changpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma).
Grind all into equal parts into fine powder. Take 1 qian per dose, mixed with wine.
Suitable for individuals with strong constitution, turbid Qi, and excessive phlegm. For those whose constitution is not particularly strong, adding Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Danshen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), and Baiziren (Biota Orientalis Seed) allows for long-term consumption.
