Where the tiger's mouth (web between thumb and index finger) shows chaotic lines, one must know that Qi is disharmonious; a bluish color indicates fright or accumulation.
If the lines extend downward accompanied by diarrhea, how should it be treated?
If cyan and black appear, it is likely slow convulsion (Man Jing Fa); if the lines enter the palm, it is mostly internal suspension (Nei Diao).
If the three gates (San Guan) lines suddenly connect through, this prognosis will definitely show a deep pulse (Chen Mai).
Red lines appearing like threads on both left and right hands indicate spleen injury with fever and fright.
If there are double lines on the right hand similar to the left condition, it arises from simultaneous food stagnation and fright accumulation.
Lines resembling the character "three" at the head indicate lung Qi generating phlegm with nocturnal sounds.

A floating and full pulse indicates prevailing wind; a rapid pulse suggests many cases of fright; a deficient and cold pulse is deep and slow, while a solid pulse indicates accumulation.
For children aged one to three years, the respiration rate should be eight beats per breath; nine beats indicate unrest, ten beats indicate distress, and irregularities in length, size, etc., are due to pathogenic interference.

The normal constitution and appearance of a child show naturally dignified demeanor. There are no dry nasal discharges, nor any saliva in the throat.
Hair is dyed dark like indigo, lips are fresh like dotted pearls. The face shines like flowers reflecting bamboo, the chin blooms like a lotus in water.
They smile when guided, not because their hands are restricted. Even if they cry, they do not cry much; though they sleep, they do not sleep long.
Their mind is calm like still waves, their emotion bright like the clear moon. This child is safe and auspicious; why worry about illness entangling them?
