Treats cold invasion into the three Yin meridians. In the initial stage, there is no fever in the body, no headache, aversion to cold with shivering, cold limbs, a desire to cover oneself with clothes, curling up while lying down, heaviness of the body, abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea, without exterior syndrome symptoms.
Fuzi (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 5 fen), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, 7 fen), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, appropriate amount).
This acts on the foot three Yin meridians. When cold invades the three Yin meridians, Yin excess leads to Yang deficiency. Therefore, acrid-hot herbs such as Fuzi, Ganjiang, and Rougui are used to dispel Yin-cold, while warming and tonifying herbs like Liujunzi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) are used to assist Yang Qi. Wuweizi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus) combined with Renshen can generate fluids and restore the pulse; adding Shexiang (Moschus) serves to open the orifices.
Treats Kidney Diarrhea and Spleen Diarrhea. (Kidney Diarrhea refers to diarrhea occurring at dawn/fifth watch. The Classics state: "The Kidney is the gate of the Stomach." The anterior orifice drains water, and the posterior orifice drains grain. The Kidney governs the transformation and transportation of the Lanmen (gate between small and large intestines). Thus, when Yuan Qi is insufficient, it cannot separate clear from turbid, leading to diarrhea without pain. Both conditions arise from the decline of Mingmen Fire (Gate of Life Fire) in the Kidney, which fails to warm the Spleen Earth.)
Pogu Zhi (Prepared Psoraleae Fructus, 4 liang, soaked in wine overnight, stir-fried), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus, 3 liang, stir-fried), Roudoukou (Myristicae Semen, 3 liang, baked in flour paste), Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus, 1 liang, salt-water stir-fried, washed to remove saltiness before use).
This acts on the foot Shaoyin meridian. Pogu Zhi is acrid, bitter, and greatly warm; it tonifies Minister Fire to unblock Sovereign Fire. When Fire is prosperous, it generates Earth, so it serves as the Sovereign herb. Roudoukou is acrid and warm, capable of warming the Spleen and Stomach and thickening the intestines.
If this formula uses only Pogu Zhi and Roudoukou, it is named Ershen Wan (Two Gentlemen Pill): indicated for the same condition. (Fire is the mother of Earth; Pogu Zhi tonifies the Kidney, belonging to Gui Water; Roudoukou thickens the intestines and stops diarrhea.)
If this formula uses only Wuweizi and Wuzhuyu, it is named Wuweizi San (Schisandra Powder): indicated for the same condition. If this formula removes Wuweizi and Wuzhuyu and adds Huixiang (Fennel Fruit, 1 liang) and Muxiang (Vladimiriae Root, 5 qian), it is used to soothe the Liver, regulate Qi, warm the Kidney, and secure the intestines.
Bawei Wan (Eight-Ingredient Pill); Vomiting and expectoration caused by Spleen-Kidney Qi deficiency stem from Spleen-Kidney deficiency.
