Treats syndromes such as diarrhea and dysentery caused by new or old cold accumulation.
Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Roudoukou (Myristicae Semen), Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos) (each 1.5 liang), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Praeparatum, prepared dried ginger), Baicaoshuang (Farris Fuligo, soot from burning straw), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, 140 grains, skin and tip removed).
Melt six liang of Huangla (Beeswax), take four liang of the melted wax to co-melt with the above ingredients into a liquid, and decoct in a pot.
This is a formula for the Hand-Yangming and Foot-Yangming meridians. Roudoukou dispels cold and resolves food stagnation, directs Qi downward and harmonizes the middle jiao; Dingxiang warms the stomach and assists Yang, unblocks congestion and eliminates masses; Muxiang regulates the ascending and descending of various Qi, harmonizes the Spleen and soothes the Liver; Xingren directs Qi downward, dispels cold, moistens dryness and resolves accumulation; Paojiang (prepared ginger) can drive out entrenched cold, dissipate痞 (glomus/mass), and open orifices; Badu (Crotonis Fructus, Croton seed) is good at breaking deep-seated cold and opening the gate to relieve stagnation; for deep and entrenched cold accumulation, no other herb can attack it like this; Baicaoshuang harmonizes the middle jiao, disperses cold warmly, and can also resolve accumulation and treat dysentery, serving as an assistant herb. (Yi Guan states: This prescription is miraculous and beyond words; although it contains Badu, it does not cause diarrhea, and the accumulation naturally digests. Li Shizhen stated: A woman over sixty years old suffered from loose stools for five years; pain occurred whenever she consumed raw, cold, greasy foods or meat. After taking herbs that ascend and astringe, her diarrhea worsened. Her pulse was deep and slippery. This was due to long-term injury of the Spleen and Stomach, with cold accumulation and stagnation. The treatment method should be to purge using hot-natured herbs.)
Treats cold hernia pain (Yin Qi accumulates internally, and is attacked by cold pathogenic factors; when Ying and Wei are disharmonious, hernia disease forms. The scrotum is cold, hard, and stone-like, or it draws the testicles [into pain], indicating an excess syndrome. [Text fragment regarding] Yin protuberance, amenorrhea, hence named...).
Chuanlianzi (Toosendan Fructus, 4 qian), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, 3 qian), Huixiang (Foeniculi Fructus, Aniseed, 2 qian), Wuzhuyu (Evodiae Fructus, 1 qian, soaked in water). Decoct with long-flowing water.
This is a formula for the Foot-Jueyin and Foot-Shaoyin meridians. Chuanlianzi is bitter and cold, enters the Liver meridian to relax sinews, preventing cramping and urgency; it also guides heat from the Small Intestine and Bladder... [text cuts off] warm... loose stools from the anus.
Treats small intestine hernia drawing pain to the umbilicus and abdomen (The Foot-Jueyin Liver meridian connects to the genital organs and enters the lower abdomen; hernia disease is caused by Liver pathogenic factors. The Liver governs sinews, hence the drawing pain; the Small Intestine meridian merges with the Jueyin. Cold pathogenic factors lodge in the Small Intestine, causing lower abdominal pain that draws to the testicles, moving upward but not downward, pain entering the umbilical region, and in severe cases, rushing up to the heart...).
Wuyao (Linderae Radix), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Huixiang (Foeniculi Fructus, stir-fried with salt), Liangjiang (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma, stir-fried), Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, 5 qian), Binglang (Arecae Semen, 2 pieces), Chuanlianzi (Toosendan Fructus, 10 pieces), Badu (Crotonis Fructus, [extracted kernel] 1 qian).
This is a formula for the Foot-Jueyin and Hand-Taiyang meridians. Wuyao disperses cold Qi in the Bladder, reducing swelling and relieving pain; Chuanlianzi guides evil heat from the Small Intestine to exit via urination; Muxiang... opens the gate [to relieve stagnation].
