According to *Jiufeng Yi'an* (Medical Cases of Jiufeng): Where evil qi gathers, the body's righteous qi must be deficient. The patient suddenly fell, consciousness was unclear, mouth and eyes were deviated, speech was hesitant and rough, urine was red and turbid, tongue coating was yellow and thick, and pulse was deep and rapid. This is due to yin deficiency where water fails to nourish wood (Kidney yin deficiency failing to nourish Liver wood), emotional stagnation transforming into fire, wind evil taking advantage of the deficiency to invade, Jueyin channel disturbing Yangming horizontally. The eye is the opening of the Liver, the Stomach channel passes around the mouth and lips, the Liver sound is "hu" (shouting), Stomach disease manifests as "yue" (hiccups), all sweating belongs to Yangming. One must beware of hiccups, snoring, and profuse sweating. It is proposed to use Yupingfeng San (Jade Windscreen Powder) and Shengma Gegen Tang (Cimicifugae et Puerariae Decoction), modified, with external application of Cinnamon Wine on the cheeks. Jueyin is the organ of Wind-Wood, Yangming is the chief of the twelve channels. True yin has been chronically deficient, Liver Wood becomes dry, dryness attracts wind, empty wind attacks directly without preparation, thus causing stroke. After continuously taking Yupingfeng San and Shengma Gegen Tang modified, consciousness is clear, speech is fluent, diet has improved, body heat resolved with slight sweat, bowels are normal, urine color is lighter, yellow rotting coating has receded, deep-rapid pulse has slowed. The pathogenesis is recorded in previous prescriptions. Only mouth and eye deviation remains unrecovered. Liver stores blood, Stomach is the sea of water and grain. The syndrome is fundamentally blood dryness attracting wind, wind overturning the Stomach sea, qi and vessels moving and changing, turbid yin rising to cloud the clear orifices, distribution uneven in the original collaterals, hence mouth and eye deviation; deviation is the image of wind. Since taking medicine, wind pathogen is resolved but not entirely, yin fluid is restored but not full, qi and vessels are not smooth. Water generates Wood, Earth nurtures Wood. Focus should be on Spleen and Kidney. Propose Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) and Guipi Tang (Restore the Spleen Decoction) modified into pills to conclude treatment. Continuously taking Yupingfeng San plus modifications, left cheek sweat has stopped, mouth and eye deviation are corrected, floating-rapid pulse has slowed, wind pathogen has dispersed. However, at an advanced age, both qi and blood are inherently deficient, thus wind evil easily invades. Should regularly take Shiquan Dabu Wan (Ten Complete Tonification Pills) to prevent future troubles. Shiquan Wan is Shiquan Dabu Tang made into pills.
Whole body numbness, eyes and face muscles twitching, pain in supraorbital ridge, worse upon pressure, over forty years old, plump body, soft pulse, wind attacking Yangming, Ying and Wei both injured, blood coagulation and qi obstruction, named Rouke (Muscular Numbness). Beware of falling. Self-crying head pain, denies when asked, body has slight heat and slight sweat, skin goosebumps, sleep not throughout the night, phlegm saliva surging up, white slippery tongue coating, chest stuffiness, hesitant speech, desire for bowel movement, urination precedes defecation, dribbling and uncomfortable, six channels confused, two bowels obstructed each other, seven emotions internally injured, wind pathogen externally invaded. Yesterday took Huoxiang Zhengqi San modified, no effect seen. Righteous qi cannot defeat evil, beware of profuse sweat. Add Renshen (Radix Ginseng) 0.8 fen to original formula, Zhengqi San protects exterior to dispel wind, Liujun Tang benefits Middle Earth to clear phlegm.
