Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, each 1 liang), Fuling (Poria, peeled), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Praeparatum, each 2 liang), Juhong (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Rubrum), Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos, each 2.5 qian). Each dose is 4 qian, decocted with one sheng of water, one jujube, and three slices of fresh ginger, until reduced to 70%. Strain the dregs and take warm on an empty stomach before meals.
Zhuling (Polyporus), Fuling (Poria), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, stir-fried, each 7.5 qian), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma, 1.2 liang), Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex, half liang). Each dose is 3 qian.
Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, each 3 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 2 liang, honey-fried), Dazao (Jujubae Fructus, 12 pieces, split). The above herbs are chopped, decocted with seven sheng of water over a gentle fire until three sheng remain. Strain the dregs and take one sheng when the temperature is suitable. Shortly after taking the medicine, drink more than one sheng of hot thin porridge to assist the medicinal power. Cover with warm blankets for about one shichen (two hours) until the whole body has a slight perspiration; this is optimal. Do not allow profuse sweating like pouring water, otherwise the pathogen will certainly not be eliminated. If the disease resolves after the first dose, stop subsequent doses; there is no need to finish the entire prescription.
Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Qianhu (Peucedani Radix), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Xiongqiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), Baifuling (Poria, each 1 liang), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba, 4 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, half liang). The above herbs are ground into fine powder. Each dose is 5 qian, decocted with one sheng of water and two slices of fresh ginger until reduced to 70%, taken warm. Alternatively, it can be taken by infusing in boiling water.
(That is, the above formula plus Renshen.)
Fangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix, 1 liang), Huangqi (Astragali Membranacei Radix, 1.25 liang), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 7.5 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, half liang). Cut into small pieces. Each dose is five qian bi (a spoonful measure), with four slices of fresh ginger and one jujube, decocted with one and a half sheng of water until reduced to 80%. Strain the dregs and take warm, then take again after a while. (Add Shaoyao if abdominal pain occurs.)
Huangbai (Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex, salt-water stir-fried, 2 qian), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma, each 1 qian), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, each 1.5 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 5 fen). Decoct with two zhong of water until reduced to 80% and take. If used solely for promoting diuresis and draining dampness, remove Huanglian and Huangbai, and add Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) and Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Praeparatum).
Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, pith removed, 1 qian), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparatum, ginger-processed, 2 qian), Fuling (Poria, 1 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 5 fen), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, 1 qian, soaked in rice washing water), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 1 qian, soil-stir-fried), three slices of fresh ginger. Decoct with water.
