A traveler named Lu Yuanqin in Quanzhou suffered from *Da Feng* (Hansen's disease/leprosy), with only his nasal bridge remaining intact. On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, the government collected bile from a python (*Reticulated Python*) to present as tribute. Someone suggested that snake meat could treat *Da Feng*, so a piece of snake meat was taken and eaten by him. Within three to five days, his condition gradually improved, and he fully recovered within one hundred days.
In Shangzhou, a person suffered from *Da Feng*. His family members, disgusted by him, built a thatched hut for him in the mountains. A black snake fell into a wine jar. Unaware of this, the patient drank the wine, and his condition gradually improved. Later, they found snake bones at the bottom of the jar and realized the reason. (From *Chaoye Qianji*, same source)
Take one *sheng* (approx. 1 liter) of mulberry twig (*Morus albae Ramulus*), finely cut and stir-fried until fragrant. Decoct with three *sheng* of water to obtain two *sheng* of liquid. Consume within one day. The *Tujing Bencao* records: Mulberry twig is neutral in nature, neither cold nor hot, and can be taken regularly. It treats wind-stroke causing body itching and dryness, Hong Kong foot (podagra/tinea pedis), wind-dampness causing limb spasms, rebellious qi, dizziness, lung qi cough; it also aids digestion and promotes urination. Long-term use makes the body light, improves hearing and vision, enhances complexion, and treats dry mouth. The *Immortal Classics* state: No immortal medicine should be decocted without mulberry twig. (From *Baopuzi*). During the Zhenghe era, I suffered from pain in both arms, and various medicines were ineffective. Following this prescription, I prepared several doses, and the arm pain healed quickly. My clansman You Kui suffered from severe itching in both ears during his prime, occurring daily and becoming unbearable at its worst. He scratched and picked at them relentlessly, but the condition persisted. He often took a solid bamboo stick about three *cun* long, broke it into five or six pieces, shaved them thin like a brush, and forcefully thrust them into his ears until the skin broke and bled, sometimes losing as much blood as a clam shell before stopping. He repeated this the next day. Due to excessive blood loss, he became exhausted and emaciated. Fortunately, Zhou Mindao, a medical practitioner from Hebei, arrived in the village, so You Kui went to consult him. Zhou said: "This is caused by kidney deficiency with wind, leading to floating toxins attacking upwards. It is not easy to treat with conventional methods. You should buy *Toubing Dan* (Ice-Penetrating Pill) and take it. Avoid alcohol, damp noodles, vegetables, chicken, pork, etc. Adhering to these dietary restrictions for a month would be ideal." You Kui followed his advice, and the itching stopped after a few days. However, he could not maintain the dietary restrictions long-term, and the symptoms returned. He then made a determined effort to completely eliminate the triggers. After several tens of days, the ear itching ceased. (From *Leibian*)
This condition arises because wind-pathogens lodge between the Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) levels, obstructing the Qi of the Liver and Kidneys, preventing Qi and Blood from nourishing the four limbs. Thus, this syndrome occurs. The Liver governs the nape, back, and arms; the Kidneys govern the waist, hips, and knees. If these two Zang organs are deficient, diseases manifest in their respective domains. In this case, the Liver Qi is specifically deficient, so treatment should focus on tonifying the Liver and Kidneys. (From *Jifeng Fang*)
