Discussion states: Women's diseases are difficult to treat, requiring ten times the effort compared to men. Therefore, ancient people established separate prescriptions for women. Thus, current prescriptions are detailed in Volume 4: one volume generally treats women's diseases, and three volumes specifically discuss postpartum conditions. Those eager to learn should study these carefully to grasp their profound meaning.

One Discussion, Seven Prescriptions

Discussion states: For those seeking conception, medication must follow a specific sequence, which must not be ignored. The sequence is: men take Qizi San (Seven Seeds Powder), women take Dangbao San (Uterus-Cleansing Powder) and sit medicines, along with Zishi Tianmendong Wan (Purple Stone Asparagus Pill). There will be no failure in efficacy. Those who do not understand this will rarely achieve results.

Prescription for treating men's wind-deficiency syndrome, dim vision, deficiency and decline of essence and qi, infertility, and insufficiency:
Vitex fructus (Mojingzi), Schisandra fructus (Wuweizi), Cuscuta semen (Tusizi), Plantago seed (Cheqianzi), [Missing Character] seed, Dendrobium stem (Shihu), Dioscorea rhizome (Shuyu), Rehmannia root preparata (Gan Dihuang), Eucommia bark (Duzhong, peeled and stir-fried), Deer antler without horn (Lurong, stir-fried), Polygala root (Yuanzhi) (each 2 liang), Aconite lateral root preparata (Fuzi, processed, peeled), Cnidium fruit (Shechuangzi), Ligusticum chuanxiong rhizome (Xiong) (each 1.5 liang), Cornus officinalis fruit (Shanzhuyu), Aconitum carmichaelii lateral root preparata (Tianxiong, processed, remove [missing character]), Gypsum fibrosum (Zhongru) (2 liang, optional).
The above twenty-four ingredients are crushed, sifted, and made into a powder. Take 1 cun bi (approx. 3-5 grams) with wine, twice daily. If ineffective, increase to 2 cun bi, stopping when effective. Avoid raw/cold foods, vinegar, slippery foods, pork, chicken, fish, garlic, oil, and flour. If unable to drink wine, honey pills are also suitable. Another formula adds Rubus chingii fruit (Fupenzi) 2 liang. Intercourse methods strictly follow *Su Nv Jing* (Classic of the White Girl): intercourse on the first day after menstruation ends yields a male, second day female, third day male, fourth day female; otherwise, no conception. Daily intercourse at noon or after midnight is reliable for conception...

Prescription for women who have been infertile for 20-30 years, congenital infertility, or frequent miscarriages, ensuring healthy offspring:
Mirabilite (Puxiao), Peach kernel (Taoren, remove skin and pointed end, use double-kernel ones, stir-fried), Poria sclerotium (Fuling), Moutan cortex (Mudanpi), Rhubarb rhizome (Dahuang) (each 3 liang), Ginseng radix (Renshen), Cinnamon twig (Guixin), Peony root (Shaoyao), Bitter orange peel (Noupi, stir-fried), Asarum root (Xixin), Achyranthes bidentata root (Niuxi), Angelica sinensis radix (Danggui), Tangerine peel (Jupi) (each 2 liang), Aconite lateral root preparata (Fuzi, 1.5 liang, processed, peeled), Blister beetle (Mengchong, remove wings and feet, stir-fried), Leech (Shuizhi) (each [missing quantity]).
The above sixteen ingredients are chopped, soaked overnight in 5 sheng of wine and 6 sheng of water, then decocted to obtain 3 sheng. Divide into four doses: three times daily and once at night. Each dose is separated by 3 chen (6 hours). Take again shortly after as usual. Cover with blankets to induce slight sweating; if no sweat occurs, use a charcoal stove in winter. This will expel accumulated blood and cold red pus resembling red bean juice. Originally, this was due to evil substances in the uterus causing pain under the navel on cloudy days or irregular menstruation due to cold blood preventing conception. If expelled sufficiently but the patient is weak and exhausted, stop taking the medicine after 1-2 doses per day; if severe distress occurs, consume sour rice and cold liquid to stop immediately. However, fear that evil substances may not be fully expelled and medicinal power insufficient. Enduring the full course is best. After one day, still use suppository medicine (*Qianjin* has Platycodon root and Licorice root each 2 liang).

Sitting Suppository Prescription:
Gleditsia sinensis fruit (Zaojiao, 1 liang, stir-fried, remove skin and seeds), Schisandra fructus (Wuweizi), Dried ginger (Ganjiang), Asarum root (Xixin) (each 3 liang), Lepidium seed (Tinglizi, stir-fried), Bitter bottle gourd (Kuhu, 3 fen, *Qianjin* uses Cornus officinalis fruit), Alum (Fanshi, calcined for half a day), Rhubarb rhizome (Dahuang), Rock salt (Rongyan), Sichuan pepper (Shujiao, perspiring?), Angelica sinensis radix (Danggui) (each 2 liang).
The above eleven ingredients are crushed, sifted, and placed in a light silk bag, size of a finger, length 3 cun, filled with medicine. Insert into the vaginal opening (Zimen). Sit or lie down as desired, avoid walking quickly. Remove during urination and replace with a new one. Within one day, green-yellow cold discharge should occur; stop when discharge ceases. Then intercourse is possible, leading to natural conception. If no disease discharge is seen, it can remain for up to ten days. (*Qianjin* lacks Tinglizi; another version adds Realgar 3 fen). One day after using the suppository, take Zishi Tianmendong Wan (Purple Stone Asparagus Pill).
