To treat irregular menstruation, such as occurring twice a month, or once every two to three months, or occurring before or after the expected time with obstruction and inability to flow, it is appropriate to administer Xingren Tang (Apricot Seed Decoction).
Xingren (Apricot Seed) (remove skin, tips, and double-kernel varieties), Taoren (Peach Kernel) (remove skin, tips, and double-kernel varieties), Mengchong (Blister Beetle) (remove wings and feet, stir-fried), Shuizhi (Leech) (stir-fried, 30 each), Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome) (3 liang).
The above five herbs are coarsely crushed, boiled in 6 sheng of water until reduced to 2.5 sheng, and divided into three doses. After the first dose, the pathogenic factors should be discharged via urination or defecation. If discharge is excessive, discontinue use; if minimal, complete the remaining two doses.
For postpartum residual disorders in women, where menstruation occurs intermittently accompanied by colicky abdominal pain:
Puxiao (Mirabilite), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root), Yiyiren (Coix Seed), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig) (2 liang each), Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome) (4 liang), Daizhe (Hematitum), Niuxi (Achyranthes Bidentata Root), Taoren (Peach Kernel) (remove skin, tips, and double-kernel varieties, stir-fried, 1 liang each).
The above eight herbs are pounded, sifted into powder, and mixed with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take five pills orally with wine before meals, three times daily. If ineffective, gradually increase the dosage.
For menstrual pain encircling the umbilicus, radiating upward to the heart and chest, accompanied by alternating chills and fever resembling malaria:
Yiyiren (Coix Seed), Daizhe (Hematitum), Niuxi (Achyranthes Bidentata Root) (2 liang each), Fuling (Poria), Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome) (8 liang), Chong (Ground Beetle) (20 pieces, stir-fried), Taoren (Peach Kernel) (50 pieces, remove skin, tips, and double-kernel varieties, stir-fried), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig) (5 cun).
The above eight herbs are pounded and sifted into powder. Fast overnight, and take one qianbi (a small measuring spoon) with warm wine on an empty stomach the next morning.
For irregular menstruation accompanied by lower back and abdominal pain:
Chong (Ground Beetle) (4 pieces, stir-fried), Nuqing (Murraya Exotica Root Bark), Xiongqiong (Ligusticum Wallichii Rhizome) (1 liang each), Shujiao (Sichuan Pepper) (remove eyes and closed-mouth varieties, stir-fried until oil appears), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger), Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome) (2 liang each).
The above seven herbs are pounded and sifted into powder. Take one dao gui (a small measuring spoon) with wine before meals. After ten days of administration, mild discharge indicates improvement; maintain proper care for recovery.
