Formula 31:
Treatment for Sand Mite Poisoning:
Grind musk (Moschus) and garlic together, mix with mutton fat (Ovis aries Adipis), and carry it in a small bamboo tube.
Another formula:
Realgar (Realgar), Cinnabar (Cinnabaris), Dichroa Root (Changshan, Radix Dichroae) (equal parts).
Grind these three ingredients together at noon on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, using a boy or girl.
Another treatment for Water Poisoning:
Water poisoning resembles the effects of the "Shi Gong" (archer bug) bite. Initially, symptoms include aversion to cold, slight headache, pain in the eye sockets, mental restlessness and irritability, trembling of the four limbs, stiffness and rigidity of the waist, back, and all joints, tendon tension, and knee pain. There may be intermittent fever, drowsiness, worsening in the evening, and cold extremities. Within two to three days, worms may develop in the abdomen, eating away at the lower body, causing ulcers that are neither painful nor itchy, often unnoticed. Immediate treatment is required. If untreated for more than six or seven days, pus and ulceration will appear in the lower body, and worms may ascend to devour the five zang organs. Severe heat,烦躁 (restlessness), and toxicity will lead to uncontrollable diarrhea. By the eighth or ninth day, even skilled physicians cannot save the patient. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial. If the ulcer is bright red like a cut surface, it is classified as Yang Toxicity; if it resembles the teeth of a snake, it is Yin Toxicity. Delaying treatment by no more than twenty days can be fatal. To confirm water poisoning, boil five to six dou of water, add five sheng of chopped small garlic, heat gently without making it too hot, strain, and use for bathing. If red spots appear on the body, it confirms the condition is not caused by other diseases.
Formula for Water Poisoning:
Crush Xanthium fruit (Cang'er) to extract juice, drink one sheng. Soak cotton in the juice and residue and insert into the lower orifice, three times daily.
Another formula: Take a handful of Polygonum (Liao), crush to extract juice, drink one sheng. No more than three doses are needed.
Another formula: Take a handful of Isatis leaf/root (Lan), crush, dissolve in water, and wash the face, eyes, and entire body thoroughly.
Another formula:
Take powder from the root of Rubus (Da Mei), drink with water, and apply to the lower orifice. If worms are present, use the juice. In summer, adding this herb to bathwater is beneficial. Use a square-inch scoopful thrown into the upstream flow of water; there is no need to fear, as it also prevents Shi Gong infections. Adding a small amount to bathwater eliminates toxicity.
Formula for Qu Sou (Earwig) Urine Sores:
Take soil from under the eastward-growing roots of Cornus officinalis (Zhuyu), mix with vinegar, and apply topically.
Another formula:
Burn deer horn (Lu Jiao) to ash, mix with vinegar, and apply. If pus is already draining, burn old rush mats found by the road and apply them. For sores affecting both superficial and deep layers, known as "Jin Yin" (spreading sore), take aged pig tooth bone (Zhu Ya Che Gu), crush, burn until oil exudes, and apply while hot.
Formula for Qu Sou Urine Sores:
Mix powdered adzuki bean (Xiao Dou) with vinegar and apply. Change when dry. For children, mix with water.
Another formula:
Burn branches or bark of Quercus (Dong Mu) to ash and apply. If dry, mix with ointment. This also treats infantile alopecia and various malignant sores.
Another formula:
Take half a jin of white bark from Sophora japonica (Huai Bai Pi), slice, soak in vinegar for half a day, remove scabs, and wash. Repeat five to six times daily.
Formula for Fox Urine Prickles:
Insects such as mantises often breed during midsummer, leaving secretions on objects. These secretions become toxic when dried. Human contact within a short time causes this disease, known as Fox Urine Prickles. It causes severe stinging pain day and night, insomnia, and resists many treatments. Simply break the stems, leaves, and roots of Taraxacum (Pu Gong Ying), extract the white juice, and apply thickly (about one fen). Healing occurs immediately; it is highly effective.
For heat-induced sores, fox urine prickles, unbearable swelling and pain, and conditions complicated by wind-cold, burn horse manure or fresh mulberry wood to generate smoke and fumigate the area. Sweating leads to recovery.
Formula for Evil Thorns:
Powder Vitex trifolia (Man Jing Zi) harvested in May, mix with black ox milk to form a paste for application. Ordinary cow milk can be used if black ox milk is unavailable.
Another formula: Burn wild fox feces to ash, mix with lard (Zhu Gao) from the twelfth lunar month, and seal over the wound.
Another formula: Soak with hot ash water from mulberry wood, replacing when cool.
Another formula: Mix iron filings (Zhen Sha) with glue solution and apply.
Another formula:
Take a piece of old shoe mesh the size of a jujube, a piece of blood-stained women's underwear the size of a palm, and fourteen hook thorns. Burn these three ingredients to ash, mix with lard from the twelfth lunar month, and apply. Worms will emerge.
Another formula:
Vitex trifolia (Man Jing Zi) (five sheng).
Lightly roast and grind this single ingredient into powder. Mix with one sheng of child's urine and apply to the wound, spreading one cun thick around the perimeter. Burn one sheng of material, place the wound in the resulting liquid to soak. Immediate healing occurs.
Another formula: Boil Sophora japonica white bark (Huai Bai Pi) and soak the wound in the decoction.
Another formula: Boil bitter bottle gourd (Ku Hu) and soak the wound in the decoction.
Another formula: Burn snake skin collected on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month to ash, mix with lard from the twelfth lunar month, and apply.
Another formula: Burn old saddle felt to ash, mix with lard from the twelfth lunar month, and seal. Worms will emerge.
Another formula: Cut one sheng of white bark from Ailanthus altissima (Chu Gen Bai Pi), soak in rice washing water, boil three times, insert into the orifice, or soak.
Formula for Corns (Rou Ci):
Incise the head to allow bleeding, insert cinnabar (Qian Dan) the size of a grain of rice, and expose to sun/dry.
Another formula: Cut off with a knife, apply high-quality ink evenly, and heal.
Formula for Dog Bites:
Immediately wash the wound with cold water. Allow bleeding to continue without stopping. Once bleeding stops, wrap with cloth to heal.
Formula for Snake Bites:
Apply thick human feces, wrap with cloth tightly. Toxicity dissipates immediately.
Formula for Snake Venom:
Mix powder of Polygala tenuifolia (Chong Tai) with saliva and apply. Highly effective.
Formula for Snake and Bee Stings:
Rub a tile, spit on it fourteen times, then throw the tile back to its original place.
