Moxibustion Method for Jaundice (Twenty Acupoints): At both sides of the spine, one and a half cun lateral to the spinous process of the eleventh thoracic vertebra, moxa Bishu (BL20) for one hundred zhuang. At the ends of the little fingers of both hands, moxa the Hand-Shaoyin channel points according to age in zhuang. In the center of the palms, moxa seven zhuang. Weiguan (CV12/Zhongwan) treats body withering and yellowing, moxa one hundred zhuang; treat ten times, ten treatments yield recovery; acupuncture is contraindicated. Erzhong point is located on the horizontal beam above the ear gate hole, treating Jaundice. Shangxing (GV23) enters inside the mouth on the upper seam where red and white veins meet, needle three depths. Xiaguan (ST7) enters from the corner of the mouth towards the opposite cheek, one cun from the mouth. Shangxing (GV26/Shanzhong) is directly between the philtrum and lip, needle three fen. Juque (CV14), upper tube. Moxa the above two acupoints seven zhuang each; for those speaking wildly and walking aimlessly, moxa them, and they recover. Yinmen (GV20/Yamen?) enters straight from the nose tip into the hairline, divide the measuring rope into three segments, take one segment, enter the hairline at the rope head ("character unknown", dare not correct). Seven zhuang on the spinal midline vertebra. Seven zhuang inside the flexed thumb joint. Zhongwan (CV12), Daling (PC7), Laogong (PC8), Sanli (ST36), Ran Gu (KI2), Taixi (KI3). The above eight acupoints all treat Jaundice.
Discussion states: Jaundice disease, if not urgently treated, often leads to death. Therefore, ancient and modern decoction and moxibustion methods are detailed herein; following these ensures recovery. Some patients suffer from confusion and inability to distinguish good from bad. One dose of Yichen Tang may not resolve it; some become lucid as usual, their bodies appearing golden; taking another dose has the same effect. Taking one dose every two days does not change the jaundice. Later, moxa various acupoints until recovery, yellow fluid oozes from the sores. However, one must strictly avoid noodles, meat, vinegar, fish, garlic, leeks, and hot food; violating this leads to death.
