One Treatise, Sixty-Nine Prescriptions
Treatise: It is said that the "Five Minerals Powder" (a powder composed of five mineral drugs), originally named "Cold Food Powder," implies that after taking this powder, one should consume cold food and drink cold water to cleanse the body and acquire coldness. The wine consumed should be light and taken warm; otherwise, various diseases will arise. When taking Cold Food Powder, one should maintain a calm state and rest properly to resolve the excessive heat and excess pathogenic factors caused by the drug's toxicity. Sanhuang Tang (Three-Yellow Decoction) should be administered.
For symptoms arising from the activation of stone medicine, including rebellious Qi, unresolved heat-excess, abdominal fullness, dark red urine, dark red stool, difficult defecation, chest oppression with Qi rushing upward, dry and scorched mouth, and red eyes:
Prescription:
Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang, 1 liang) Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian) Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin) Mirabilite (Mangxiao) Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata (Zhigancao, each 2 liang)
The above five herbs are coarsely crushed. Boil in 5 sheng of water to obtain 2.5 sheng. Take twice. When using Rhei Radix et Rhizoma and Mirabilite, add them when the decoction is nearly ready.
Xiaosanhuang Tang (Minor Three-Yellow Decoction) for treating fever caused by stone medicine. This prescription eliminates stone-heat more effectively than the previous one but is less effective in draining excess:
Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang, 2 liang; another version says 1 liang) Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin, 2 liang; another version says 1 liang) Gardeniae Fructus (Zhizi, 14 pieces, broken open) Sojae Semen Praeparatum (Chi, 3 sheng, wrapped in silk cloth)
The above four herbs are coarsely crushed. Boil in 6 sheng of water. After boiling the herbs for a few minutes, add Chi. Boil until 2 sheng remains. Divide into two doses. Discontinue when cured.
Rejie Shishi Qi Xia Shi Jian Faxie Jieji Zhongfeng Reqi Tang (Heat-Clearing Stone-Neutralizing, Excess-Draining, Sweating, and Muscle-Releasing Decoction for Wind-Strike Heat):
Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang, 3 liang) Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin, 2 liang) Gardeniae Fructus (Zhizi, 14 pieces, broken open) Sojae Semen Praeparatum (Chi, 1 sheng, wrapped in silk cloth) Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang, de-segmented) Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata (Zhigancao, each 2 liang)
The above six herbs are coarsely crushed. Boil in 9 sheng of water. First boil Mahuang, remove the foam on the surface, then add the remaining herbs. Boil until 4 sheng remains. Add Chi and boil for three boils. Divide into three doses. Discontinue if bowel movement occurs.
Huangqin Tang (Scutellaria Decoction) for deficiency-type stone medicine activation, with internal guest-heat causing chest oppression, external wind-dampness not resolved, and muscle tension and spasms:
Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin, 2 liang) Gardeniae Fructus (Zhizi, 14 pieces, broken open) Allii Fistulosi Bulbus (Congbai, one handful) Sojae Semen Praeparatum (Chi, 1 sheng, wrapped in silk cloth)
The above four herbs are coarsely crushed. Boil in 7 sheng of water. First boil Chi for three boils, strain, then add the other herbs. Boil until 3 sheng remains. Divide into two doses. If symptoms persist, prepare another dose.
Zheshe Re Tang (Stone-Heat-Resolving Decoction) for deficiency-fatigue with lower-jiao heat, joint pain, muscle tension, internal oppression, difficult urination, frequent but scanty stools, rapid breathing, dry mouth, and shortness of breath:
Cannabis Fructus (Dama, 5 he, peeled) Sojae Semen Praeparatum (Chi, 2 sheng, wrapped in silk cloth)
Crush the Cannabis Fructus. Boil with 4 sheng of water together until 1.5 sheng remains. Divide into three doses. Discontinue after three courses of treatment.
