Guiji disease refers to the condition caused by the invasion of "ghostly pestilence qi" (pathogenic factors associated with sudden, severe trauma-like symptoms) into the human body. This illness arises without gradual onset; the pathogen strikes suddenly, and the patient feels as if pierced by a knife or spear. Inside the chest, hypochondrium, and abdomen, there is spasmodic tension and excruciating pain that cannot be tolerated upon pressure. Symptoms may include immediate hematemesis (vomiting blood), epistaxis (nosebleed), or hematochezia (blood in stool). The treatment method involves moxibustion at one cun above the umbilicus for seven moxa cones, and at the white flesh margin of both heels, which leads to spontaneous recovery. Alternatively, use the following prescription:
Te Sheng Fan Shi (Calcined Alum, roasted for half a day and ground) Zao Jiao (Gleditsiae Fructus, peeled, seeds removed, and stir-fried) Xiong Huang (Realgar, ground) Li Lu (Veratrum Root, processed by heating)
Take equal parts of these herbs, crush them into powder. Take an amount the size of a soybean, insert it into the nasal cavity using a tube, and induce sneezing; this will restore free flow of qi and revive life. If sneezing does not occur, repeat the insufflation until sneezing is achieved.
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) 1 liang Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) Ban Xia (Pinelliae Tuber) Fu Ling (Poria) each 5 qian Shi Chang (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) 1 qian Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) 5 fen
Decoct in water and take orally; one dose can cure the disease. Alternatively, use the following prescription:
Bai Ma Wei (Horse Tail Hair) fourteen stalks Bai Ma Qian Jiao Jia (Horse Front Hoof Plate) two pieces
Burn them to ash, mix with Ku Jiu (bitter vinegar) to form pills the size of small beans. Swallow two pills with the mouth open, and after a short while, administer another pill.
First, grind Sao Jiao Ci (Gleditsiae Spina) into powder, insufflate it into the nasal cavity using a goose feather tube, and stop when sneezing occurs. Then, use the following prescription:
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) Fu Ling (Poria) Ban Xia (Pinelliae Tuber) Tian Nan Xing (Arisaematis Rhizoma) each 3 qian Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) 5 qian Bai Jie Zi (Sinapis Semen) 1 qian Sheng Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata - raw) 5 fen Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) one piece
Crush to extract juice. Decoct with one bowl of wine and one bowl of water until one bowl remains. Take warm. After all phlegm and fluid retention are vomited out, allow the patient to sleep peacefully. Upon waking, use the following prescription:
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) Bai Wei (Cleomidis Radix) Ban Xia (Pinelliae Tuber) each 1 qian Fu Ling (Poria) Bai Jie Zi (Sinapis Semen) each 3 qian Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) 5 qian Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) each 5 fen
Decoct in water and take orally; one dose ensures complete recovery.
In emergencies, drink one or two cups of pure alcohol and gulp it down while hot to save oneself.
Urgently help the patient sit up, cross-legged on the ground, and hold their hair. Insufflate powder of Sheng Ban Xia (raw Pinelliae Tuber) into the nose, and pour in Sheng Jiang Zhi (fresh Zingiberis Rhizoma juice). Additionally, have them drink Tong Zi Xiao Nian (urine of a healthy young boy) or Tang Shui (sugar water) while hot to dissipate stagnant blood.
Take one to two sheng of Song Jie (Pine Node), crush them, and stir-fry in an iron pot until green smoke rises. Add two to three sheng of aged wine (Chen Jiu) around the edges of the pot. Strain the dregs, let it cool slightly to a warm temperature, and drink to revive the patient.
