After one dose, the swelling of the head and eyes subsides; after two doses, vision returns to normal. Subsequently use:

Note: This is the formula used by Master Hua to treat Chen Deng, the Grand Administrator of Guangling. Chen Deng had previously suffered from this syndrome. After curing him, Master Hua firmly instructed him to abstain from alcohol and sexual indulgence to achieve permanent cure; otherwise, he would die within two years from abdominal fullness. Chen Deng did not heed this advice, and indeed, three years later, Master Hua's prediction came true. (Annotated by Sun Simiao)

Cow plague spreads extremely violently. If one cow contracts the disease, nearby cows will inevitably perish in succession. Symptoms include the cow lowering its head and drooping its ears, reduced food intake, panting and fright, flowing nasal discharge and tears, initially dry and hard stools followed by diarrhea, and rotting spots inside the mouth. These indicate an epidemic condition. Urgently burn Zhen An Xi Xiang (True Benzoin Resin) in the cowshed; if the cow inhales the fragrance, it recovers. Alternatively, take three sheng of Ta Shi (Lutra Lutra Excrement), pour boiling water over it to extract two sheng of juice, and administer orally for recovery. However, the above two remedies are extremely difficult to obtain. Therefore, commonly used medicines are:
Ya Zao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina), Xi Xin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Chuan Wu Tou (Aconiti Radix Preparata), Cao Wu Tou (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix Preparata), Xiong Huang (Realgar).
Take equal parts of these five herbs, grind into powder. Add a small amount of She Xiang (Moschus). Blow five or six fen into the cow's nostrils for recovery.
