Located at the fingertip, swelling resembles a snake's head. Pain is severe, radiating to the heart, accompanied by alternating chills and fever. At the initial stage, urgently apply:
Realgar (Xionghuang) and Mirabilite (Puxiao)
in equal parts, ground into powder. Mix with a small amount of pig bile (Zhudan) and sesame oil, then apply topically. Alternatively, take orally Chan Su Wan (Toad Venom Pill) to induce sweating.
The preparation method for Chan Su Wan (Toad Venom Pill) is as follows:
Chan Su (Toad Venom) 2 qian (dissolved in wine), Calomelas (Qingfen) 5 fen, Calcined White Alum (Kubaijian), Calcined Aragonite (Hanshuishi - calcined), Verdigris (Tonglü), Chalcanthite (Danfan), Frankincense (Ruxiang), Myrrh (Moyao), Musk (Shexiang)
each 1 qian.
Realgar (Xionghuang) 1 qian, Cinnabar (Zhusha) 3 qian, Snails 21 pieces.
On the noon hour of the Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu), in a clean room, first grind the snails until paste-like, mix evenly with Chan Su (Toad Venom) until thick and viscous. Then grind all other herbs into powder and mix with the snail and Chan Su paste to form pills, sized like mung beans. Take three pills per dose. Chew five cun of scallion white thoroughly, spit into the palm of the left hand for males or the right hand for females, wrap the pills inside, and swallow with hot wine free from ash impurities. Lie still under blankets until sweating occurs. For severe cases, administer another dose.

If located on both sides of the nail, the treatment is the same as above.

If located beneath the nail, the treatment is the same as above.

Also known as Fish Belly Abscess (Yudu Ju), located on the anterior aspect of the middle phalanx of the finger, swelling resembles a fish belly. The treatment is the same as above.

If located between fingers, use:
Langeri Radix (Langji Gen) and Portulaca Oleracea Stem (Machixian Jing)
mixed with fermented rice wine (Jiuniang), ground into a paste, and applied topically. This is highly effective. If red spots appear on the affected area, use Red Portulaca; if white spots appear, use White Portulaca.

For Lip Carbuncle (Chun Ding), cool medicines must never be applied topically to the sore. The best method is to apply chicken blood. Internally, take:
Urtica dioica Leaf or Root (Wuye)
juiced and consumed in several cups. If purple veins are visible in the popliteal fossa (back of the thigh), puncture with a silver needle to release bad blood, ensuring safety.

One type is Horse Mouth Carbuncle (Mazui Ding). First, puncture with a silver needle, then apply:
Daphne Odora Flower Leaves (Ruixiang Hua Ye) 14 petals, Salt 14 grains, Cooked Rice 14 grains
ground together into a paste and applied to the sore, changing day and night. This is extremely effective.

The causes of Scrofula (Luoli) include nine factors: one, anger; two, depression; three, consuming food eaten by rats; four, consuming food touched by mole crickets, lizards, or scorpions; five, consuming honey products; six, consuming food crawled over by centipedes; seven, excessive joy followed by a heavy meal of fruits; eight, sexual indulgence damaging the Kidney and consuming heavy amounts of blood-type foods; nine, fright causing loss of spirit and qi stagnation. There are three treatment methods:
The first treats Scrofula caused by Liver-Gallbladder Qi Stagnation. Formula:
White Peony Root (Baishao) 5 qian, Angelica Sinensis (Danggui) 2 qian, White Mustard Seed (Baijiezi) 3 qian, Bupleurum (Chaihu) 1 qian, Licorice Root (Gancao - roasted) 8 fen, Whole Scorpion (Quanxie) 3 pieces, Atractylodes Macrocephala (Baizhu) 3 qian
Poria (Fuling) 3 qian, Turmeric Tuber (Yujin) 3 qian, Cyperus Rhizome (Xiangfu) 3 qian, Tiankui Cao 3 qian.
Decoct in water and take orally. Continue for ten doses for spontaneous recovery.
The second treats Scrofula caused by Spleen-Stomach Phlegm-Dampness. Formula:
Ginseng (Renshen) 2 liang, Atractylodes Macrocephala (Baizhu) 10 liang, Poria (Fuling) 6 liang, Licorice Root (Gancao - roasted) 1 liang, Perilla Leaf (Zisu) 8 qian, Pinellia Rhizome (Banxia) 2 liang, Spider Insect (Jiangchong) 2 liang, Tangerine Peel (Chenpi) 6 qian, Angelica Dahurica (Baizhi) 7 qian, Akebia Stem (Mutong) 1 liang, Honeysuckle Flower (Jinyinhua) 10 liang, Trichosanthes Root (Tianhuafen) 3 liang.
Grind all into powder, form pills with honey. Take three pills after meals. One course will cure it. However, sexual abstinence is required for three months.
The third treats Scrofula caused by Heart-Kidney Non-Interaction. Formula:
Two Large Turtles (one male, one female), Polygala Root (Yuanzhi) 2 liang, Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong) 3 liang, Cornus Fruit (Shanzhuyu) 4 liang, Cinnamon Bark (Rougui) 1 liang, Atractylodes Macrocephala (Baizhu) 5 liang, Atractylodes Lancea (Cangzhu) 2 liang, Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shudi) 10 liang, Scrophularia Root (Xuanshen) 10 liang, Poria with Hostwood (Fushen) 4 liang, Polygonum Multiflorum (Heshouwu) 10 liang, Mulberry Fruit (Sangshen) 4 liang, Violae Herba (Zihuadi Ding), Prunella Spike (Xiakucao) 5 liang.
First, steam the large turtles until cooked, dry them, and grind into powder. Then grind all other herbs into powder and mix evenly. Form pills with honey. Take three times daily, 3 qian per dose. One course will cure it.
