Feishi (Flying Corpse) disease arises without cause, appearing suddenly like a running illness, hence the name. Its manifestations include stabbing pain in the heart and abdomen, rapid breathing with distension and fullness, and Qi rushing upward to strike the chest and heart region. Treatment utilizes: Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Tianxiong (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix Praeparata), Mangcao (Daphne Genkwa Cortex), each 1 fen; Zhenzhu (Margarita), Xionghuang (Realgar), each 2 fen; Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex), 3 fen; Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), Wutou (Aconiti Radix); all prepared by frying/roasting. The above are crushed into powder. Take 5 bishi per dose; if ineffective, slightly increase the dosage, taken down with aged wine. Avoid pork, cold water, raw green onions, and raw vegetables.
Dunshi (Lurking Corpse) disease refers to pathogens lurking between muscles and blood vessels, triggering upon contact and persisting for a long time without dissipating, hence the name. Its symptoms are roughly similar to Feishi. Treatment utilizes: Guan Gu (Egrettae Os Praeparatum), roasted, 3 cun; Lingyang Bi (Saiga Tataricae Nasi Cornu Praeparatum), roasted until charred, 2 pieces; Xi Yi (Gekkonis Sanguis Praeparatum), roasted, 1 piece; Banmao (Mylabris), wings and feet removed, fried, 14 pieces; Yuanqing (Mylabris), wings and feet removed, fried, 2 pieces; Jisi Bai (Galli Stercus Album Praeparatum), fried, 3 liang; Lilu (Veratri Rhizoma), rhizome head removed, fried until yellow, Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), each 1 liang; Badou (Crotonis Fructus), heart and peel removed, fried until black, 5 pieces. Crush the above into powder, mix with honey to form pills the size of small beans. Take 3 pills on an empty stomach with water, twice daily. Gradually increase to 6 or 7 pills, stopping when efficacy is achieved, specifically when vomiting or diarrhea occurs.
When humans are bewitched by ghosts or spirits, they often feel sorrowful with spontaneous heart palpitations. Or their mind becomes chaotic as if drunk, speaking wildly in terror, weeping against walls, prone to nightmares during sleep, or believing they communicate with gods and spirits. The patient experiences alternating chills and fever, abdominal fullness, shortness of breath, and inability to eat. Treatment should employ ghost-eliminating agents. Dansha (Cinnabaris), Longgu (Fossi Mamuthi Os), Xionghuang (Realgar), Mumu Dugong (unknown specific herb, likely toxic mineral/herb), Guijian (Aruncus Arborescens Ramulus), each 5 liang; Guijiu (Podophylli Emodi Rhizoma et Radix), 2 liang; Chixiaodou (Phaseoli Angularis Semen), 3 liang; Yuanqing (Mylabris), 1 piece; Taoren (Persicae Semen), peel and tip removed, separately fried and ground, 100 pieces. The above nine ingredients are crushed and sifted. Separately grind Xionghuang (Realgar) and Dansha (Cinnabaris). Mix with fine silk threads, blend all medicines thoroughly, then incorporate wax to form pills the size of bullet seeds. Store in a crimson pouch, tied to the arm—left for males, right for females, and on the head for children. Do not let women, chickens, or dogs see the preparation. For internal use, mix with honey to form pills the size of wu zi (Sophorae Japonicae Fructus), take 3 pills three times a day. Avoid five pungent spices and blood-generating foods.
