In cases where men suffer from the five exhaustions and seven injuries, or following lung congestion and miasmic malaria, with residual accumulations (masses) remaining. In women, due to postpartum deficiency consumption, leaking sweat accompanied by alternating chills and fever, or amenorrhea (closure of menstruation), leading to gradual emaciation. Initially, night sweats occur; subsequently, there is alternating chills and fever, gradually increasing cough, pale complexion, and sometimes redness of the cheeks like rouge. If this disease is not treated, most cases are incurable. It is advisable to urgently use:
Qixiang Miao (Herba Celosiae, collected on the sixth day of the sixth lunar month) Zhi Mu (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae) Huang Lian (Rhizoma Coptidis) Da Huang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei) Zhizi Ren (Semen Gardeniae) Gualou (Fructus Trichosanthis) Changshan (Rhizoma Dichroae) Weirui (Rhizoma Polygonati Odorati) each 8 fen Kushen Pi (Cortex Sophorae Flavescentis) 12 fen Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, honey-fried) Shuqi (Herba Perillae, washed) each 5 fen
Pulverize the above ingredients, mix with honey to form pills the size of a wu zi (seed of a Chinese parasol tree). Take 5 pills with warm water, gradually increasing to 15 pills, twice daily, until efficacy is observed.
In cases of deficiency consumption where essence and marrow are depleted, and qi and blood are weak, failing to nourish the muscles and skin, resulting in emaciation. The symptoms often include soreness and pain in the hands and feet, dry mouth, and high fever. Use the following formula:
Tatan (Liver of Water Badger, roasted) Tianlinggai (Skull of Human, burned) Sheng Xijiao (Cornu Rhinocerotis, shaved) Qianhu (Radium Peucedani) Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae) each 4 fen Songzhi (Resina Pini) Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, honey-fried) each 5 fen Zhishi (Fructus Aurantii Immaturus)
Pulverize and sieve the above ingredients, mix with honey to form pills the size of a wu zi. Take 20 pills on an empty stomach with fermented soybean juice, twice daily.
This disease is often caused by weeping over corpses, allowing corpse qi to enter the abdomen, persisting for three to five years, triggered by slight exertion. Without removing the root cause, the disaster can lead to the extinction of the family. Use the following formula:
Tatan (Liver of Water Badger, split, dried, and roasted) one piece Biejia (Carapax et Plastrum Testudinis, roasted) Yelitou (Caput Vulpis Silvestris, roasted) each one piece Han Fangji (Radix Stephaniae Tetrandrae) 1 qian 5 fen Shuqi (Herba Perillae, washed) Maidong (Radix Ophiopogonis, heart removed)
Pulverize and sieve the above ingredients, mix with 2 fen of sheep kidney fat and 1 fen of honey, melt and combine to form pills the size of a wu zi. Take 10 pills, increasing to 15 pills, twice daily, taken with warm water. After compounding the medicines, place one portion near the head, suspend one portion above the door lintel, and tie one portion to the arm. First take the portion placed near the head, then the portion tied to the arm, and finally the portion suspended above the door; this method is highly effective. Avoid consuming Haizao (Thallus Laminariae seu Eckloniae), Songcai (Brassica pekinensis), and Xiancai (Amaranthus tricolor).
