There are cases where a person suddenly develops an excessive appetite, deviating from their normal portion. Due to hunger and encountering raw green onion (Cong), they consume it in large quantities, subsequently vomiting a piece of meat. This piece of meat has a mouth around its periphery; upon this occurrence, the illness is cured, hence it is termed "Mei Zheng" (Flesh Lump Syndrome). Treatment uses:
Canis familiaris excrement (Goushi) five sheng
Burned into ash and ground into powder, wrapped in silk, soaked in wine for two nights, filtered to obtain the liquid, divided into ten doses, taken three times daily, completed within three days.
Bie Zheng (Soft-shelled Turtle Syndrome) refers to abdominal masses resembling the shape of a soft-shelled turtle. These arise from eating turtle meat that fails to digest due to cold exposure, or from consuming mixed cold foods that fail to transform and digest. Treatment uses:
Hippocamelus bicornis urine (Baima Niao) one sheng and five he
Warm and take all at once until recovery. Alternatively, use:
Xiezhao (Scorpion Claw? Note: Context suggests crab claw, likely Xiezhao 蟹爪) and Shexiang (Moschus/Musk) each three fen, Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens/Fresh Ginger) four fen, Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata/Prepared Aconite Root), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Biejia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum/Baked Turtle Shell), Fangkui (Adenophorae Radix) each six fen, Yuliren (Pruni Semen/Damson Plum Seed) eight he.
The above are crushed and sifted, formed into pills the size of wu zi (Chinese quince seeds) with honey. Take twenty pills on an empty stomach with wine, twice daily.
This condition arises from accidentally swallowing hair during meals, which enters the stomach forming a mass, causing a sensation as if insects are moving up and down in the chest and throat. Treatment uses:
Cong (Allii Fistulosi Bulb/Green Onion) and Chi (Fermented Soybean/Douchi)
Fry Cong and Chi in oil until fragrant. Fast for two days, lie supine with mouth open. Place the oiled Cong and Chi near the mouth; the parasites will gradually emerge and can be slowly removed with tools.
Some individuals have many lice and enjoy biting them. Excessive biting weakens the zang-fu organs, preventing digestion of the lice, thereby generating Lice Syndrome. Some lice grow within the abdomen.
Gu Bizhi (Old Hair Comb) and Gu Shuzi (Old Hairbrush) each one piece.
Break each item into two halves. Take one half of each, burn into ash. Take the other half of each, boil in five sheng of water to reduce to one sheng. Use this decoction to swallow the aforementioned ashes completely. The disease will soon be expelled.
No dietary restrictions.
Some people eat snake but cannot digest it, or snake saliva accidentally enters food, both sufficient to cause Jia Disease (Abdominal Mass). The symptom is constant hunger, yet food cannot pass down the throat; when food reaches the chest, it is vomited out. Treatment uses:
Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) half liang, Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas/Gypsum? Note: Mangxiao is Mirabilite/Natrii Sulfas) the size of a chicken egg, Wuzhegu (Sepiae Endoconcha/Sepia Bone) three pieces, Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) half liang, Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma/Roasted Licorice Root) one chi long like a human finger, Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Fructus/Roasted Gleditsia Fruit without skin and seeds) six pieces.
Boil the above in six sheng of water for three boils, remove dregs, add Mangxiao. When temperature is suitable, take all at once. One dose lasts ten days. Do not eat the night before; take on an empty stomach at dawn to induce evacuation.
