To treat water entering the ear, with pus discharge and pain lasting day and night.
*Jiangan Neizhu* (If there are worms inside, grind together with other ingredients until fine, dosage: 3 qian) *Shexiang* (Musk, 1 qian) *Nifen* (Calomel, 1 qian)
Grind the above three ingredients together until extremely fine. Before each use, first clean the ear canal thoroughly with a cotton swab (*mian zhangzi*), then insert the medicine deep into the ear canal, and plug it with cotton. If a feeling of distension or pain is felt, it indicates the expulsion of evil substances. When removing the cotton, tilt the head to allow sweat to flow out. For severe swelling and pain, three doses will lead to recovery.
To treat frostbitten ears, and concurrently treat damp tinea (*shixuan*).
*Danshen* (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang) *Huangla* (Beeswax, 0.5 liang) *Chishao* (Fermented Soybean, 1 he) *Congbai* (Scallion White, 5 stalks) *Qingyou* (Clear Oil, 3 liang)
First, boil the oil until it boils three times. Then add Danshen and Chishao, fry until scorched, filter out the residue, then add Huangla, stir evenly, and store in a porcelain container. Apply to the affected area whenever needed; recovery occurs within three days.
*Chuan Wutou* (Aconiti Radix Lateralis Preparata, 3 pieces) *Mubiezi* (Strychni Semen, 7 pieces) *Baifan* (Alumen, weight equivalent to 5 wen coins) *Zhuya Zao* (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus Spina, 1 pod) *Yeming Sha* (Stercoris Vespertilionis, weight equivalent to 1 wen coin) *Baidingxiang* (Stercoris Muscae Domesticae, 1 pinch) *Xiao'er* (Child [text possibly incomplete])
Grind the above nine ingredients finely into powder. Take one dose ("yi zi"), mix with strong vinegar, and instill into the ear. Within a short time, all worms will be expelled.
The teeth are the termination of bones and are nourished by marrow. The branch vessels of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian enter the teeth. If marrow qi is insufficient and the Yangming meridian is deficient, it cannot nourish the teeth. Affected by wind-cold pathogenic factors, pain often occurs. Due to lack of sufficient nourishment, stagnation forms worms that gnaw at the teeth, creating cavities. Worms residing between teeth transmit infection, causing牵连 pain in adjacent teeth. Since the Yangming meridian is deficient, stagnant heat arises. Heat causes blood and qi to move recklessly, leading to loose and exposed teeth.
To treat loose teeth, resolve bone-socket wind-toxic gas, and restore firmness.
*Xiangqi* (Ambergris Umbilicus, 10 pieces; if lacking fragrance, the skin can be used, finely cut) *Niuxi* (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, 1 jin, remove rhizome, finely cut) *Mu* [Missing character in source] *Yuliren* (Prunus Persica Seed, 2 liang)
Place the above five ingredients in an iron mortar, pound until they adhere together, shape into balls, and place in a jar. Cover the mouth with a tile, leaving a small hole, and seal firmly with salt mud. Fire the jar until red-hot, stop when smoke turns white, remove from fire, and cover with new earth for one "fu shi" (a full day/night period). Remove, add 1 qian of Shexiang (Musk), and grind together until fine. Every morning, rub the painful teeth, rinse with warm water after a while. Before sleep, apply a small amount again; swallowing saliva is acceptable. The Heji Bureau formula names this *Sheqi San*; it lacks Shexiang but contains Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) and Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma); usage is identical.
