[Shenxiao Xionghuang Wan (Miraculous Realgar Pill)]
Treats five types of pediatric epilepsy: Niu epilepsy is characterized by bellowing like a cow; Ma epilepsy by neighing like a horse; Gou epilepsy by barking like a dog; Yang epilepsy by bleating like a sheep; Ji epilepsy by crowing like a rooster. The pathogenesis of these five epilepsies involves mutual traction among the five Zang organs, with evil Qi filling the interior. Upon onset, symptoms include cold jue (cold extremities), opisthotonos (body arching backward), hand tremors, and salivation. After a short period, the patient recovers as if normal, but the condition recurs. This formula is identical to Qian's Wuse Wan (Five-Color Pill), except that the dosage of Shuiyin (Mercurium) in Boji Fang is eight fen, whereas it differs in Wuse Wan.
Ingredients: Zhusha (Cinnabaris, half liang); Shuiyin (Mercurium, one fen, alternatively two liang); Zhenzhu (Margarita, one liang, ground into powder); Qian (Plumbum, three liang, boiled together with Shuiyin).
Preparation and Administration: Process the above ingredients with refined honey to form pills the size of hemp seeds. Take three or four pills per dose, administered with a decoction of Jinyinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos) and Bohe (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba).
[Jin Gua Yuan (Golden Melon Round)]
Treats pediatric gan heat (accumulation heat), persistent high fever, sallow emaciation. Long-term use promotes physical robustness in children and resolves exterior muscle heat.
Ingredients: Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, slightly roasted), Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, white pith removed, equal parts).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the four herbs into fine powder. Add a small amount of Shexiang (Moschus) and mix evenly. Bind the powder with Zhu Dan (Suis Fel) and place it inside the gallbladder. Tie the opening securely with thread. Place the gallbladder in a stone vessel and boil in rice water for five to seven boils. Remove and dry in the wind overnight. Form into pills the size of mung beans. Take five to seven pills per dose with Mi Yin (rice drink), gradually increasing to ten pills.
[Zhi Sheng Qing Jin Dan (Supreme Blue Gold Pill)]
Treats fifteen types of wind disorders in children, five types of gan qi (accumulation gas), febrile conditions during bian zheng (metabolic transformation periods), stool resembling jujube flower pulp, thin legs with abdominal distension, visible green veins on the abdomen, sparse hair, geophagia (eating dirt), eyebrow abnormalities, nail-biting, emaciated limbs, gan ascariasis biting the heart, frequent diarrhea and dysentery, susceptibility to fright with excessive coughing, gan erosion of mouth and nose, red and white sores, and gan-induced que mu (night blindness). All these conditions can be treated with remarkable efficacy upon ingestion.
Ingredients: Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis, two fen, selected fine quality, ground); Xionghuang (Realgar, two fen, ground); Longnao (Borneolum Syntheticum, a little, ground); Xiongdan (Ursi Fel, one fen, dissolved in warm water); Huhuanglian (Scutellariae Barbatae Radix, two fen); Shexiang (Moschus, five fen, ground); Dansu (Gallae Su, size of a soap pod); Shuiyin (Mercurium, size of a soap pod); Qianshuang (Plumbi Subcarbonas); Baifuzi (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix, two pieces); Lvhua (Aloe, one fen, ground); Zhusha (Cinnabaris, one qian, ground); Ninfen (Calomelas, one fen).
Preparation and Administration: Finely grind the thirteen ingredients, sieve them into powder, and then further grind them uniformly in a mortar. Extract juice from one Zhu Dan (Suis Fel), boil it, and soak a small amount of Zhengbing (steamed dough cake). Form into pills the size of yellow millet grains. Dry in the sun and store in a sealed porcelain container. Retrieve as needed. Take two pills per dose according to the following specific indications:
For pediatric jing feng tian diao (convulsive disorder with upward staring of eyes), where eyes roll back, hands and feet twitch, and symptoms vary: Take one pill, dissolve in warm water, drip into the nostrils to induce sneezing three to five times. The eyes will naturally lower, and twitching will cease. Then, take two more pills dissolved in Bohe Tang (Mint Decoction).
For chronic gan accumulation with thin limbs, protruding abdomen, eyebrow abnormalities, geophagia, nail-biting, sparse hair, and visible abdominal veins: Take two pills with porridge drink.
For febrile conditions during bian zheng: Take two pills with Bohe Tang, dissolved before administration.
For chronic diarrhea and dysentery: Take two pills with Mi Yin (rice drink).
For chronic gan ascariasis causing heart pain: Take two pills with Kailianzi Decoction (Decoction of Meliae Semen).
For erythema and ulceration under the nose, oral dental gan worms, and mouth ulcers: Grind two pills with infant breast milk and apply topically to the affected area.
For gan-induced que mu (night blindness): Take one white lamb liver, slice open with a bamboo knife, insert two pills inside, tie securely with hemp thread, and boil in rice washing water until cooked. Eat on an empty stomach. The nursing mother must consistently avoid toxic fish, garlic, chicken, duck, and pork.
If children take this medicine every two or three days, they will remain disease-free and avoid premature death. Administer to any sick child for guaranteed efficacy.
