Treats all types of qi disharmony and women's blood-qi swelling, resolves accumulations and stagnations, and dissipates alcohol and food retention.
Genkwa Flos (Yuanhua), Kansui Radix (Daji), Kansui Radix (Gansui), Pharbitidis Semen (Qianniu), Curcumae Rhizoma (Jingsanleng), Dry Laccodermis Resin (Ganxi), Tangerine Peel (Qingpi), Aged Tangerine Peel (Chenpi) [peel removed], Crotonis Fructus (Badou) (each half liang).
Alumen (Sha), Vitriolum (Danfan) (appropriate amounts).
Except for Alumen and Vitriolum, the remaining herbs are processed with half a jin of fresh ginger, crushed, and soaked in one sheng of good vinegar overnight. Remove them; do not drain the ginger.
Bake until dry, then grind into powder. Dissolve Alumen in vinegar, and add Vitriolum. Boil wheat paste, stir and mix to form pills the size of pea seeds. For dissipating alcohol and food retention, or for routine consumption after tea or wine, take three to five pills as needed.
For women's heart-qi pain, administer with vinegar decoction. For water qi and all types of qi swelling, as well as dysentery, administer with ginger wine. For all types of qi disharmony, administer with ginger decoction.
Treats all types of qi disorders.
Atractylodis Rhizoma (Cangzhu) (twenty liang), Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng) (ten liang), Aged Tangerine Peel (Chenpi) (six liang, peel removed), Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Wu Baizhi) (three liang), Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (Houpo) (two liang, bark removed), Aurantii Fructus (Zhiqiao) (four liang, bran-fried), Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guangui) [bark removed, three liang in spring/summer, four liang in autumn/winter], Paeoniae Radix (Shaoyao) (one liang), Poria (Baifuling) [peel removed] (one liang), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) (two liang), Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen) (two liang), Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong) (one and a half liang), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) (three liang), Pinelliae Tuber (Banxia) (one liang, washed seven times), Zingiberis Rhizoma (Ganjiang) (one and a half liang in spring/summer, two liang in autumn/winter), Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang) [nodes and roots removed, two liang in spring/summer, three liang in autumn/winter].
Clean and select each herb separately, bake until dry. Except for Cinnamomi Ramulus and Aurantii Fructus which are pounded into powder separately, grind all other herbs together into coarse powder. Divide into six portions. In a large iron pot, stir-fry over moderate heat until slightly reddish-yellow and cooked through, but not burnt. Ensure even frying. Remove, line with clean paper, place on a wooden board to cool, preventing dust contamination. Then add the previously prepared powders of Aurantii Fructus and Cinnamomi Ramulus, mix uniformly, and store in a sealed container.
If suffering from yin-cold cold damage with cold hands and feet, or restless sleep due to deficiency, or continuous spontaneous sweating, with a deep and fine pulse, bluish complexion, or cold extremities, and frequent vomiting and regurgitation, add one qian of Shunyuan San, decoct together, and take hot.
If a pregnant woman experiences fetal restlessness or abdominal pain due to injury, follow the usual method: take two qian of the powder, decoct in one cup of water until reduced to 70%, and take.
If labor pains are sparse, or difficult labor persists for two to three days without delivery, or the fetus is dead in the womb, or the mother suddenly loses strength and the birth canal is dry, add Shunyuan San to the decoction. Use 70% water and wine, boil vigorously for dozens of boils, and consume two doses consecutively. The mother will regain strength, internal blood-qi will harmonize, and natural labor pains will resume. For a dead fetus, no more than three doses are needed. The amount of Shunyuan San should be adjusted according to the mother's deficiency or excess condition; this is miraculous.
If suffering from cold damage with generalized irritability, fever, headache, add one stem of Scallion White (Congbai) and seven grains of Fermented Soybean (Chishi) to each dose, decoct together, and take. Consume three doses consecutively to induce sweating. Not suitable for yang-toxin conditions.
If spleen and stomach disharmony occurs due to internal injury from cold food, causing whole-body pain, dizziness, weakness, phlegm rebellion, chest and diaphragm discomfort, qi congestion, frequent choking, inability to eat, yuan-qi attacking and stabbing sensations, hypochondriac pain, or women with long-standing coldness of the blood sea, irregular menstruation, wandering zhu-type abdominal pain, or amenorrhea, follow the usual method and add Shunyuan San to the prescription.
