Treats various conditions during pregnancy and postpartum with miraculous efficacy.
Zhen Ejiao (Four jin, roasted over fire until hot then stir-fried), Shed snake skin (One strip, burnt to ash), Shu Ai (Half liang, burnt to ash), Bai Bi guan (One tube, the tip burnt to ash), Dama hua (A small amount, dried by roasting; if Dama hua is unavailable, Maishang Yazhi may be used as a substitute). The above ingredients are ground into fine powder.
Combine the aforementioned five medicinal materials, grind them until extremely fine, and use soft Jing rice as a binder to form pills, sized like chicken beans. If the pills stick to hands during preparation, add a small amount of flour to facilitate shaping.
For pregnant women who have completed ten months of gestation and suffer from various diseases, dissolve one pill in well water (Jinghua shui) and administer. For postpartum illnesses, mix one pill with "Tongling San" (Spirit-Resolving Powder) measured as one zi (a traditional unit of measure for powders), dissolve it in vinegar broth, and administer. This medication greatly stabilizes the fetal organ (Tai Zang). In cases of physical trauma or impact, or retained dead fetus in the abdomen, administer one pill with vinegar broth. For dysphagia occurring before delivery, administer one pill mixed with "Qianjin Sanzi" (Thousand-Gold Pill Powder) measured as one zi, dissolved in hot water. For blood qi rushing to the heart during pregnancy or postpartum, administer one pill mixed with "Huang Sanzi" (Yellow Pill Powder) measured as half qian, dissolved in vinegar broth. For continuous dribbling of urine after childbirth, administer one pill with half qian of burnt salt and wine without ash (Wuhui jiu). For difficult labor, within three to five days of onset, this medication can induce immediate delivery; administer one pill with "Tongling Sanzi" dissolved in vinegar broth. If the placenta delivers before the fetus, or if the feet step on the placenta during birth, administer one pill mixed with "Tongling Sanzi" measured as one zi. If the fetus delivers but the placenta remains, wait a moment and then administer one pill with vinegar broth. For stab wounds to the front or back of the chest/heart, administer one pill mixed with "Tongling Sanzi" measured as one zi. If amniotic fluid breaks but delivery does not occur after three to five days, administer one pill mixed with "Huang Sanzi" measured as one qian, dissolved in wine. For dysentery occurring before or after delivery, administer one pill with vinegar broth. For blood qi disorders, administer one pill with decoction made from Ai zhi (Mugwort branches).
Clarification on auxiliary powders: Poppy seeds roasted until yellow and ground into powder constitute "Qianjin San". Zhen Ejiao roasted until yellow and ground into powder constitutes "Huang Sanzi". Shed snake skin burnt to ash and ground into powder constitutes "Tongling Sanzi".
