Cow horn (sliced) Concha Tridacnitis (three qian bi) Glutinous rice (placed on the cow horn and burned together over charcoal fire until ash, take seven qian bi)
Process the above ingredients into five doses. Chew Resina Incense (Ruxiang) and swallow with wine; it is especially effective if the incense can penetrate into the lesion.
Ash of Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit (Zaojiao Hui) Concha Meretricis (Ge Fen)
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take half a qian or one "zi" (a traditional small weight unit), mixed with warm wine for oral administration. Immediately massage the breast manually, then apply powder of Rhizoma Pinelliae Preparatum (Tiannanxing), mixed with water for topical application. If there is no improvement, add Semen Momordicae (Mubiezi), mixed with vinegar for external application, followed by oral administration of Decoction of Trichosanthes Root (Gualou San).
Fructus Trichosanthis (Gualou, one liang) Resina Incense (Ruxiang, one qian)
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take one qian per dose, mixed with warm wine for oral administration. If there is milk stasis, immediately take a piece of paper five cun wide, ignite about three cun of it, and place it in a bottle. When the flame is about to go out but not yet extinguished, quickly cover the breast with the mouth of the bottle and hold it firmly in place with your hand. The milk will be sucked into the bottle. When you hear a hissing sound indicating milk is in the bottle, remove the bottle immediately and wash the affected area with medicine. If there was originally no milk stasis, treat according to the methods for carbuncle (Yong). Wei Yilin's *Defang Fang* states that for heat syndromes, add a small amount of powder of Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao).
Question: What is the origin of the term "soft boil" (Ruanjie)?
Answer: In adults, retained pathogenic toxins form fistulas (Lou); in children, retained pathogenic toxins form soft boils (Ruanjie). This refers to forcing the toxins outward.
For ordinary minor sores and boils without pus but with unbearable pain, which cannot be stopped by various medicines, this method produces immediate results.
Mercurius (Shuiyin, one fen, high quality) Lapis Alumen (Hanshuishi, one liang) Semen Crotonis (Badou, twenty-seven grains, prepared by fire roasting) Cinnabaris (Zhusha, half liang, high quality)
Sulfur (Liu Huang) Cornu Bubali (Xijiao) Radix Ampelopsis (Bailian, each half liang) Sepiae Endoconcha (Haipiaoxiao) Minium (Huandan, each two liang)
First, mix Mercurius with saliva until it resembles mud, then combine with the powders of the other drugs. Form pills the size of two paulownia seeds using rice drink as a binder. Grind one pill in newly drawn well water and apply it directly to the center of the sore. Stop when the medicinal effect penetrates inward; otherwise, continue adding until the desired effect is achieved. For patients taking mineral drugs, use rock sugar as a binder to form pills, remove Sepiae Endoconcha, add half liang of Natrii Sulfas (Puxiao), and administer five pills at once with well water to induce purgation. However, this must only be used by those who understand syndrome differentiation; otherwise, misjudging deficiency and excess will lead to harm.
