Whenever a carbuncle or ulcer has ruptured, there are often necrotic tissues remaining around the wound margins, causing the sore to deepen progressively until it damages tendons and erodes bone. The method requires removing the necrotic tissue and using a rapid flesh-regenerating decoction, so as to prevent wind-pathogen invasion due to prolonged non-healing. Method for removing necrotic tissue: Take one bowl of light vinegar, add salt equivalent to "one character" (a small measure), gently brush the affected area with a chicken feather. After a short while, use a bamboo strip clamped to form a handle, and use tweezers to extract the necrotic tissue. Then sprinkle medicine powder on it.
Rhizoma Aconiti Lateralis Preparatum (Chuanwu, 1 fen, processed), Fructus Chebulae (Hezi, 3 pieces, pitted), Cortex Viticis (Zitengxiang, 1 fen), Sulfur (Shengliuhuang), Fructus Zanthoxyli Bungeani (Shizhuyu, each 0.5 liang), Os Draconis (Longgu), Radix Ampelopsis (Bailian, each 1 qian).
Grind the above into a fine powder and apply dry. Then cover the superficial voids with Flesh-Regenerating Ointment (Shengrou Gao), ensuring they do not touch each other directly; the flesh will regenerate immediately. If the sore is dry and painful, or already painful, take 40 to 50 grains of Zanthoxylum, add one lampful of clear oil, fry until the Zanthoxylum is scorched, mix well, and apply externally for best results.
This formula is suitable for post-healing care.
Cortex Moutan (Mudanpi, 1 liang), Radix Bupleuri (Chaihu, 3 fen), Radix Paeoniae Rubra (Chishao), Poria (Fuling), Radix Paeoniae Alba (Baishao), Radix Angelicae Sinensis (Danggui, each 0.5 liang), Radix Glycyrrhizae (Gancao).
Grind the above into powder. Take 1.5 qian per dose, with one lampful of water, three slices of fresh ginger, and one jujube. Decoct together until reduced to 0.8 parts. Drink all at once, three times a day.
Breast abscess (Ruyong) tends to arise easily, all due to rebellious Qi, where cold and heat clash, causing stagnation and knotting of Ying and Wei (Nutritive and Defensive) qi, leading to milk stasis and subsequent abscess formation. For patients under forty, treatment mostly leads to recovery; for those over forty, only four or five out of ten recover. If not yet formed into an abscess, suck out the milk; if not breastfeeding, induce purgation. If already formed, treat according to the methods for carbuncles. If not treated properly in the breast region, leading to rotting and leakage, death occurs within three years. If the abscess is located deep within the breast center, it is incurable (this sentence refers to acupuncture therapy).

Radix Hemerocallis (Xuanguogen).
Pound thoroughly, soak in wine, and drink. Apply the dregs externally.
Another Formula
Leaves of Sonchus oleraceus (Qushuangye).
Take an unspecified amount of the above, shade-dry and grind into powder. If urgent use is needed, bake dry. Mix with spring water from a well for topical application; however, mixing with juice from Luffa cylindrica (Sigua) is considered most excellent. This paste applied to back carbuncles and all types of boils and furuncles works in conjunction with Jade Maiden Flying Flower Powder (Yunü Feihua San) as exterior-interior counterparts.
