(After the recent recovery from cold damage, illness recurs due to sexual intercourse. If this occurs in men, it is called Yang Yi; if in women, it is called Yin Yi. In cases of Yin-Yang Yi disease, if the tongue protrudes and cannot be retracted, death is inevitable.)
In men suffering from Yang Yi disease, the head feels heavy and reluctant to lift, vision is blurred as if seeing flowers, pain connects internally from the waist and ankles to the abdomen, the body feels heavy with shortness of breath, the genitals are swollen and retract inward, and there is severe colicky pain in the abdomen. Treatment employs Shao Kun San (Burned Underwear Powder), Tongmai Sini Tang (Decoction for Reviving the Pulse and Rescuing the Yang), and Danggui Sini Tang (Decoction of Angelica for Nourishing Blood and Unblocking the Channels).
[Zhongjing's Shao Kun San]
Take the part of the woman's undergarment closest to the genital area, burn it to ash, and grind it finely. Administer one Fang Cun Bi (a square-inch measure) per dose, three times daily. When urination becomes smooth, improvement begins; when the glans penis swells slightly, the disease resolves. If a woman is ill, burn the crotch of a man's undergarment instead.
[Zhongjing's Tongmai Sini Tang]
Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried, 2 liang) Ganjiang (Dried Ginger, 3 liang, processed) Fuzi (Aconite Root, one large piece, processed, skin removed, broken into eight pieces)
Chop the herbs. For each dose, use an appropriate amount, decoct in water, strain, and mix with Shao Kun San before administration.
[Zhongjing's Danggui Sini Tang]
Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root) Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig) Shaoyao (Peony Root) Xixin (Asarum Root) (each 3 liang)
Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried) Tongcao (Tetrapanax Pith) (each 2 liang) Dazao (Jujube Fruit) (25 pieces)
Chop the herbs. For each dose, use an appropriate amount, decoct in water, strain, and mix with Shao Kun San before administration.
Women suffering from Yin Yi disease experience heat rushing up to the chest, spasticity and tightness in the hands and feet, and convulsions resembling stroke-like symptoms. Treatment employs Qingzhuru Tang (Green Bamboo Sheath Decoction) from Huoren Shu.
Gualougen (Trichosanthes Root, excluding yellow parts, 2 liang) Qingzhuru (Green Bamboo Sheath, scraped from light bamboo, half jin)
Chop the herbs. Decoct in 2.5 sheng of water until reduced to 1.2 sheng. Divide into three doses.
Women suffering from Yang Yi disease present with urgent pain in the lower abdomen, involuntary movements of the waist, hips, and limbs, without fever. Treatment employs Danggui Baizhu Tang (Angelica and Atractylodes Macrocephala Decoction) from Huoren Shu.
Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome) Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root) Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig) Fuzi (Aconite Root, processed)
