Take freshly cut large deer antlers, or one to two fragments, and soak them in rice washing water for three to four nights. Scrape off the black dirt from the surface with porcelain shards, saw them into segments of approximately 1.5 cun in length. Place them in a new clay pot, submerge the deer antlers with flowing clear water, and decoct using charcoal fire or mulberry wood fire for three to four nights. Prepare an additional jar for later use. Frequently add boiled water to the pot as needed, ensuring the pot does not dry out and the deer antlers are not exposed. Maintain an even charcoal fire; the boiling is sufficient when small bubbles resembling crab eyes appear in the pot. Water must be added at night. Once the fire potency is adequate, remove the antlers, sun-dry them, and store them. If the deer antler juice retains "fire toxicity" (heat accumulation from processing), appropriately add Ophiopogonis Radix (Maidong) and Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata (Shudihuang) into the mixture. Decoct until only two-thirds of the liquid remains, filter out these two herbs, and pour the gelatinous liquid into a clean container. If the gelatin is not sufficiently thick, boil it for a short while longer. Place it on the ground for one day and night to eliminate fire toxicity, after which it can be used in various miraculous prescriptions. Adding Cortex Mori Radicis (Sangbaipi) and yellow beeswax is merely intended to form a paste, but this is inferior to using Ophiopogonis Radix and Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata.
Qingmengshi (Fluorite) produced in Yunnan that contains golden star pine patterns should be crushed to the size of beans. For every jin (approx. 500g) of Qingmengshi, mix with half a jin of Fire Saltpeter (Nuxiao). Seal the mixture in a jar and place it on a Baiyan Furnace (Hundred-Eye Furnace). First apply gentle heat (Wen Huo), then strong heat (Wu Huo), refining for the duration of two incense sticks. When the stone becomes thoroughly red inside, stop heating. Allow it to cool completely, then remove and grind together with saltpeter into powder. For use, it is best to grind it extremely fine and mix it with medicinal ingredients.
For Zhuru Shi (Stalactite), select those that are bright, clean, and four to five cun long. Those that are hollow, smooth, lustrous, and light in texture are preferred. For every eight liang of Zhuru Shi, mix with Chenxiang (Agarwood), Huoxiang (Patchouli Herb), Linglingxiang (Lingzhi Fragrant Herb), Gansong (Nardostachys Root), and Baimao (Imperata Rhizome), each weighing one liang. Boil in water for one fu shi (approx. two hours), then refine. Subsequently, add Gancao (Licorice Root), Zi Bei (Purple Shell), and Tiankui (Tiankui Seed) each weighing two liang, and boil again for one fu shi. Strain, wipe dry, and slowly dry over low heat. Crush and sieve, then still process by water levigation (Shui Fei). Filter through silk gauze, let settle, sun-dry, and grind ten thousand times. Store in porcelain containers for use. If refinement and grinding are not meticulous, ingestion may cause Lin Syndrome (dysuria/painful urination).
Select genuine high-quality Yangqishi (Actinolite). Crush it, soak it in good quality distilled liquor (Baijiu) overnight, remove, and for every liang of Yangqishi, add Er Qian (two qian, approx. 7.5g) of Zhangnao (Camphor). Grind them together thoroughly. Place the mixture into a Guji Yangcheng Jar (a specialized sealed jar), seal tightly with a lamp saucer on top, and place it on a Baiyan Furnace. Fill the lamp saucer with water. Apply gentle heat first, then strong heat, firing for the duration of two incense sticks. After cooling completely, open the vessel. The substance that ascends to the lamp saucer can be used; the heavy residue remaining at the bottom should not be used.
