The disease of "Pao Zhuan" (bladder torsion leading to urinary retention) arises when the bladder is forced by heat pathogens, or when urination is forcibly suppressed. Both conditions cause water qi to press upon the bladder, causing it to twist and close, preventing it from filling and draining smoothly. Consequently, external urine should enter but cannot, and internal urine should exit but cannot. This results in internal and external stagnation, distension, and obstruction, hence termed "Pao Zhuan". The presentation includes acute pain in the lower abdomen and inability to urinate; severe cases may lead to death and are difficult to treat.
In pregnant women, climbing high to retrieve objects can also induce Pao Zhuan; one must follow the aforementioned principles to restore normalcy. In cases of dystocia, Pao Zhuan may occur due to an elderly woman manually probing the vagina. After administering medication, the patient should lie flat, and manual therapy should be applied; recovery is invariably achieved.

(Sourced from *Ju Fang*) Bawei Wan (Eight-Ingredient Pill): Treats Pao Zhuan in women, with inability to urinate. (Formula see Section on Deficiency Damage.)
The Classic states: "Bladder dysfunction leads to Long (urinary retention); lack of restraint leads to Yi Ni (enuresis)." This is caused by the disordered transmission of Heart and Kidney qi. Thus, there are cases of painful, scanty urination with leakage, and cases of enuresis where the patient is unaware. Furthermore, difficult childbirth may injure the bladder, causing frequent enuresis. There are also cases of enuresis due to cold bladder and cold viscera; treatment should be detailed according to their specific categories.
Lurong Wan (Deer Antler Pill): Treats chronic deficiency in women, with turbid white urine and uncontrollable slippery frequency.
Lurong (Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum), Chuanjiao (Sichuan Pepper), Guixin (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), Muli (Concha Ostreae) (prepared), Poguzhi (Fructus Cnidii), Shihu (Dendrobii Caulis), Rongshirong (Cynomorphi Herba), Ji [Note: Text implies a chicken part, likely Jineijin], Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum) (each 1 liang), Sangpiaoxiao (Ovi Mantidis Oötheca) (10 pieces, stir-fried with wine).
