To warm the Kidney and resist cold, herbs such as Ganjiang (Dried Ginger), Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root), Chuanwu (Sichuan Aconite Root), and Tianxiong (Male Aconite Root) are used, assisted by Yangzheng Lingsha Dan (Nourishing Upright Cinnabar Pill). However, if cold damages the Ying Blood (Nutritive Blood), merely knowing to warm the Kidney without warming the blood may not yield perfect results. Therefore, Guigui (Cinnamon Bark) and Danggui (Angelica Sinensis) are considered superior herbs for warming the blood.
Han Shi authored prescriptions for the Three Yin Meridians, establishing the principle of warming the Middle Jiao. Although he did not explicitly mention "Zhonghan" (Cold attacking the Middle), he deeply grasped its essence. Thus, he proposed the method of urgently using Jiang (Ginger) and Fu (Aconite) to warm the Middle and rescue the Interior, demonstrating profound insight.

Han Shi's Wenzhong Tang (Warming the Middle Decoction): When a patient's pulse at both wrists is deep, slow, or tight, it indicates Cold in the Stomach. If the Cun (Inch) pulse is short and weak compared to the Guan (Bar) and Chi (Cubit) pulses, this indicates Excess of Yin and Deficiency of Yang. Symptoms may include fullness and oppression in the chest and diaphragm, abdominal distension, bodily stiffness and urgency, and cold extremities; urgent warming is required.
