This syndrome is caused by the disharmony of Ying and Wei (Nutritive and Defensive Qi) or the stagnation of blood stasis. If there is soft pain in the lower abdomen with a surging and rapid pulse, it indicates that pus has formed; one should employ the method of expelling toxins and supporting the healthy qi. If there is hard pain in the lower abdomen with a slow and tight pulse, it indicates blood stasis; one should employ the method of purging downwards. In severe cases, where the abdomen is distended and large, producing a splashing sound when turning over, or when pus discharges from the umbilicus or through the stool, La Wan Pill (Wax and Alum Pill), Tai Yi Gao (Great One Ointment), and medicines for supporting the interior are appropriate.
Painong Tuoli San (Draining Pus and Supporting Interior Powder): Treats abdominal distension, a rapid and slippery pulse, or tenesmus with pus discharge.
Yiyi Ren Tang (Coix Seed Decoction): Treats intestinal abscess accompanied by difficult urination and abdominal pain. (These two formulas are seen in the previous volume.)
Si Wu Xuan Hu Tang (Four Substances and Corydalis Decoction): Treats intestinal abscess due to blood stasis.
Dang Gui (One Qian), Chuan Xiong, Shao Yao, Sheng Di Huang (Each One Fen), Yan Hu Suo (One Qian), Tao Ren, Hong Hua, Niu Xi (Each Seven Fen).
The above herbs are chopped, prepared as one dose, decocted, and taken on an empty stomach. For constipation, add Da Huang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome).
(This refers to carbuncles that are hard as stone and fail to suppurate for a long time.)
Apply mashed root of Phytolacca acinosa (Shang Lu Gen) to the affected area; replace with fresh paste when dry. Repeat frequently until healed.
For sores caused by lacquer poisoning, apply iron rust mixed with sesame oil directly to the lesion. For those with strong Stomach Qi, take internally Huang Lian Jie Du Tang (Coptis Decoction for Resolving Toxicity). For those with weak Stomach Qi, vomiting, or poor appetite, caused by deficiency of Middle Qi allowing lacquer toxin to invade, use Liu Jun Zi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) added with Sha Ren (Amomum Fruit), Huo Xiang (Patchouli Herb), and wine-fried Shao Yao (Peony Root).
Shen Xiao Gao (Miraculously Effective Ointment): First, observe the size of the sore. Cut mulberry paper into four frames totaling twelve sheets, securing the corners with small paper twists for later use. Then, boil two taels of high-quality sesame oil in a copper spoon using alternating gentle and strong heat. Add forty-nine grains of Zanthoxylum bungeanum (Hua Jiao) and fry until black, then remove the peppercorns. Next, add forty-nine segments of Sophora japonica (Huai Zhi) branches, each one cun long, and fry until charred black, then remove the branches. Then, add one tael of beeswax, two fen of Calomelas (Qing Fen), and one fen of Calcined Alum (Ku Fan), melting them until clear. Immerse the prepared papers in the oil until fully saturated, ensuring they do not burn. Remove and set aside. Before application, wash the sore thoroughly with a decoction of Sophora japonica branches, scallion, and pepper, then dry it. Apply the ointment paper, cover with oil-coated paper externally, and bind securely with cotton cloth. Remove once daily, peel off the sheet closest to the sore, clean again with the decoction, and reapply. Using all twelve sheets guarantees healing.
Another prescription: Extremely simple and fast-acting for treating sores.
Chen Xiao Fen (Fine White Lead Powder), Sesame seeds (stir-fried and ground), Fine tea (ground into fine powder).
Mix these three ingredients with sesame oil, apply via paper patch, cover externally with oil paper, and change the dressing once daily. Store in a porcelain jar sealed tightly to prevent air leakage.
Ge Zhi Gao (Paper-Separating Ointment): Miraculously effective for treating sores.
Huang Bai end (Half Liang), Qing Fen (Calomelas), Ru Xiang (Frankincense), Mo Yao (Myrrh) (Each One Qian), Xue Jie (Dragon's Blood), Yin Zhu (Vermilion), Tong Lv (Malachite) (Two Fen).
Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. Mix with authentic sesame oil to form a paste. Spread onto oil paper, cover with another layer of oil-coated paper punctured with several holes using a cloth needle, and apply over the ointment. Change once daily.
