The Classics state: The Spleen, Stomach, Large Intestine, Small Intestine, Sanjiao (Triple Burner), and Bladder are the foundations of granary storage and the residence of Ying (Nutritive) Qi. Their flourishing manifestation appears on the white flesh surrounding the lips. It is also said: The Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian runs alongside the mouth and circles the lips. It is further stated: The Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel) and Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) branch out to connect with the lips.

The meridian of the Foot-Yangming Stomach runs alongside the mouth and circles the lips. Therefore, when the Spleen and Stomach are invaded by pathogenic factors, the lips will suffer disease. Wind causes movement/twitching, Cold causes tightness/spasm, Dryness causes dryness, Heat causes cracking. Qi stagnation generates sores, while Blood deficiency leads to pale color. Treatment method: Internally, address the syndrome to clear and regulate the Spleen and Stomach; externally, apply medicinal plasters. There is no case that does not heal.
