Treats various types of stagnation (stasis) in the Zang-Fu organs, including phlegm, food, Qi, and blood, which manifest as pain, vomiting, distension, or diarrhea.
Xiangfu (Cyperus Rhizome), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Fuxiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), Shanzhiren (Gardeniae Semen), Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata).
Make pills with water; take 100 pills per dose.
Ji Chuzhong stated: The *Neijing* discusses the principle of "reaching" (venting/dispersing) Wood Stagnation, along with four other sentences; the ancients' methods for treating stagnation were most detailed. What is meant by stagnation is that clear Qi fails to ascend and turbid Qi fails to descend, leading to dysfunction of the Stomach and San Jiao (Triple Burner). Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus) clears stagnant fire and guides it downward, thereby venting Lung and Stomach Qi and clearing the San Jiao, which is particularly ingenious; combined with the acrid nature of Fuxiong, which enters the Liver and Gallbladder directly to assist this function, the Sheng Qi (vital energy) of Shaoyang ascends to the upper jiao, harmonizing Ying and Wei (Nutritive and Defensive Qi); the Shou Qi (condensing energy) of Taiyin descends, transforming Jing Qi (Essence). This is Danxi's variation on the method of treating the Five Stagnations. However, among the Five Stagnations, Metal and Wood are particularly severe. Predecessors used Xiaoyao San to regulate Liver stagnation, simultaneously clearing heat and nourishing Yin; and Xiebai San to clear Lung stagnation, simultaneously moistening dryness and descending rebellious Qi. The key lies in the fact that upward rushing of Wood transforms into Fire, while stagnation of Metal leads to astringency and dryness. If one has Yin deficiency but does not know to nourish Kidney Water, or Qi deficiency but does not know to transform fluids, this indicates an inability to skillfully apply Yueju Wan.
Treats nocturnal emission and spermatorrhea, as well as "intercourse with ghosts" (a traditional term referring to sexual dreams or emissions caused by mental confusion or Kidney deficiency).
Huangbo (Phellodendri Cortex), Sharen (Amomi Fructus), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma).
Pulverize the above ingredients and bind them with honey paste to make pills; take 3 qian per dose.
Zhao Yuhuang stated: The Classics say: The Kidney governs Water and receives the essence of the Five Zang and Six Fu organs to store it. It also says: The Kidney governs hibernation and is the root of sealing and storing, the residence of Essence. If Kidney Qi is not secure, Essence will overflow externally. Huangbo... regarding... and can... what moistens it is only Acridity; Sharen can penetrate the San Jiao and distribute Jin Ye (Body Fluids), enabling the essence of the Five Zang and Six Fu organs to return to the Kidney, stabilizing Kidney Qi internally so that the Marrow within the Kidneys naturally...
Treats excess Fire in the Liver, causing pain in the left hypochondrium.
Huanglian (6 liang, stir-fried), Wuzhuyu (1 liang, soaked in decoction).

Hu Tianxi stated: This is the correct formula for draining Liver Fire. There are several types of Liver treatment: when Kidney Water declines and cannot generate Liver Wood, Dihuang Wan illustrates the principle of Gui Yi Tong Yuan (Liver and Kidney sharing the same source); when Spleen Earth declines... Guipi Tang... from... its defense...
