Mingfan (Alum, *Kalium Aluminum Sulfate*, 1 liang) and Gancao (Licorice Root, *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma*, 1 liang) are ground together into a powder. Take 2 qian per dose. Swallow with boiled water. Apply externally to the affected area. It has the power to bring the dead back to life.
(Bites on the forehead corners, the Ren-26 point (Renzhong/Gouji), or the Tiger's Mouth (Hukou/LI4) are incurable. Children aged seven or eight years old bitten by a mad dog are incurable. If a male patient develops symptoms after thirty days, it is incurable. If a female patient develops symptoms after twenty-seven days, it is treatable. Injuries on the upper body are difficult to treat; those on the lower body are easier to treat.)
Tiannanxing (Arisaema Rhizome, *Arisaematis Rhizoma* - select white and lustrous pieces) and Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root, *Saposhnikoviae Radix*) are finely chopped, stir-fried, and ground. Mix equal parts. Take 3 qian per dose.
Take twice daily. If by the seventh day the toxic qi has gathered in the abdomen, take the medicine mixed with boiling water while half-hungry, and swallow with aged wine. Recovery occurs when blood clots are passed in the stool. Wash the wound externally with warm tea. Xingren (Apricot Seed, *Armeniacae Semen Amarum*, amount unspecified, remove skin and tips) is used together with Huangsha (Yellow Sand).
Dietary restrictions: Avoid beef, mutton, pork, chicken, fish, shrimp, seafood, raw/cold foods, greasy foods, wheat products, distilled spirits, Chi Xiangjun (red mushrooms), eggplant, scallions, garlic, and spicy foods. Avoid all substances that trigger wind or disturb qi, as well as loud noises like gongs and drums. Otherwise, if symptoms manifest within one hundred days, there is no cure. Be extremely cautious.
The most feared scenario is recurrence every seven days. During an attack, the patient feels intense wind despite the absence of actual wind, seeking to hide under curtains with their head covered. This is an inausicious sign. If on the seventh day there is no such aversion to wind, the condition is treatable. Upon being bitten, immediately go to a windless place, clean dental plaque/gunk from teeth using urine, and apply medication.
Immediately drink one bowl of Chinese chive juice. Repeat one bowl every seven days. Consume a total of seven bowls within forty-nine days. For bites occurring in late spring and early summer, no method exceeds the above. Salt and vinegar must be avoided for 120 days. Pork and fishy foods must be avoided for one year. Dog meat must be avoided for life to ensure survival. Otherwise, nine out of ten will die.
