Slightly cold. Primarily treats fright, crying, and sorrow caused by the five pathogens. Burn to ash, mix with wine or water to form a measure of one cun cube, to treat ant bites.
Sweet in taste, toxic. Primarily treats Gui Zhu, Gu poison, removes fish bones stuck in the throat, stops chronic cough, and should be taken after burning. Its meat treats epidemic qi, warm diseases, and seasonal epidemics in cattle; boiling and administering the juice is also effective.
Additionally, the four feet of the raccoon dog (Ta) treat cracking of the skin on hands and feet.
Sweet in taste, toxic. Primarily treats female infertility, vaginal itching, and swelling of the infant's scrotum/testicles; its internal organs and intestines are bitter in taste, slightly cold, and toxic, treating Gu poison with chills and fever, and infantile fright seizures. Excrement of male foxes, when burned, wards off evil. The excrement found on trees and rocks is the valid form.
