It is said: When the Upper Jiao (Triple Burner) is deficient, qi is drawn to the Lung; when the Middle Jiao is deficient, cold is generated, leading to abdominal pain, watery diarrhea, and cholera with incontinence of stool and urine; when the Lower Jiao is deficient, there is uncontrollable passage of stool and urine, exhaustion of body fluids, and severance of vital qi. If it is a cold pattern, the Kidney should be tonified. However, the Triple Burner is the pathway for water and grain, and the place where qi begins and ends. Although its locations differ, their source is one; therefore, diseases of simultaneous deficiency of the Triple Burner occur.

It also treats middle-fullness with lower-deficiency. Long-term use harmonizes and tonifies the Spleen origin. By adjusting cold and warmth and following the Stomach qi of the four seasons, it greatly promotes food intake, circulates body fluids, stops thirst and irritability, nourishes the spirit, and conserves qi.
