Discussion states: The three Yin meridians of the foot refer to the Spleen, Kidney, and Liver meridians. They all originate from the medial aspect of the great toe and little toe, running along the dorsum of the foot, the anterior margin of the medial malleolus, and through the knee and tibia. If wind-dampness toxic qi invades these meridians, it causes the stagnation and obstruction of Ying (Nutritive) Qi and Wei (Defensive) Qi, leading to their retention and failure to circulate. The Qi and blood vessels pour downward into the feet, knees, and calves, resulting in swollen and hard skin, forming nodular sores.
