Discussion: The condition of hemiplegia (body paralysis) caused by wind-stroke is due to the laxity and relaxation of joints, and the loss of constraint in tendons and vessels, resulting in the inability to use all four limbs. This occurs because the interstices (skin pores) are open and loose, allowing wind pathogens to invade the meridians of the Spleen and Stomach. Since the Spleen and Stomach are deficient, they cannot transport and transform Qi and fluids to nourish the body; thus, the four limbs receive no nourishment. This corresponds to what the *Neijing* states: "Spleen disease leads to the inability to use the four limbs."
