It is stated that pathogenic factors invading the human body fall into four categories. Those coming from the direction of what one cannot overcome (i.e., the element that controls one's own element in Five-Phase theory) are called "Zei Pathogens" (Thieves' Evil). On the day of Winter Solstice, strong winds blowing from the south are named "Zei Wind" (Thieves' Wind). The principle behind this is the same.
**Da Xuming Decoction** for treating Zhong Zei Feng (Stroke-like syndrome caused by Thieves' Wind) presenting with acute muscle rigidity and stiffness, loud crying, and body pain:
*Ephedrae Herba* (Mahuang, 麻黄) [Remove roots and joints, boil to remove scum, dry-roast, 3 liang], *Gypsum Fibrosum* (Shigao, 石膏) [Crushed], *Saposhnikoviae Radix* (Fangfeng, 防风) [Remove forked branches, each 2 liang], *Zingiberis Rhizoma Preparatum* (Ganjiang, 干姜) [Processed, 1.5 liang], *Scutellariae Radix* (Huangqin, 黄芩) [Remove rotten heart], [Missing character in text] (0.5 liang), *Prunus Armeniaca Semen* (Xingren, 杏仁) [Processing details missing].
The above twelve ingredients are coarsely crushed and sifted. Take 5 qianbi per dose, add 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 1 zhan remains, strain, and take warm at any time. Repeat after a while.
**Mahuang Decoction** for treating Zhong Zei Feng presenting with acute muscle rigidity and stiffness, loud crying, loss of consciousness, and generalized body pain:

The above fourteen ingredients are coarsely crushed and sifted. Take 5 qianbi per dose, add 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 0.8 portion remains, strain, and take warm at any time. Three times during the day, once at night.
