Discourse states: When chronic dysentery does not heal, the essence of grain and qi is consumed day by day, damaging the intestines and stomach. Dampness scatters and overflows, causing muscle edema, due to the extreme deficiency of Stomach Earth. Worms move due to deficiency; if they erode upward into the diaphragm, it causes vomiting, rebellious Qi, irritability, and oppression. If they erode downward into the intestines, it causes ulceration and rotting of the anus. If it persists for a long time without healing, it transforms into infantile malnutrition (Gan syndrome), or red fluid is discharged, with blood and water mixed, having a foul odor that is difficult to approach. This is called damage to all five Zang organs and the mixed discharge of the five fluids, which is difficult to treat.
