Discussion: When the properties of Rushi (Mineral Drugs) are activated, qi ascends to the head and face, accompanied by high fever throughout the body. This is caused by excessive sexual activity, leading to stagnation in the Zang-Fu organs and obstruction of Qi circulation. Those who take Rushi do so because it can ward off wind-cold, dispel cold-dampness, unblock meridians, and promote appetite. However, if Yin is excessive and Yang is deficient, the dry-heat nature of the mineral drugs will manifest and flare up; this is why heat rushes to the head, face, and body.
